November 19, 200223 yr I recently upgraded my system from a P3-833 & Matrox G400 Millenium graphics card running Windows 98 to an Athlon 2100+(and subsequently) a MSI GeForce4 Ti 4600 graphics card. the new machine has Windows 98 & Windows 2000pro on separate partitions & I've got FS2002 installed on both. Over the course of time I have installed a large number of AI aircraft using Ttools. The reason for the graphics upgrade was that I was getting lockups in Windows 2000 when a number of AI aircraft came into view (i.e. when overflying or on approach to a busy airport - the frame rate would drop & then the whole PC would lock up requiring the use of the reset button to re-start. - after the upgrade I'm still getting the lockups in Windows 2000 but they don't happen in windows 98, although the setup of FS2002 in both systems is identical (They are of course in different folders.) When Windows 2000 is working the sim runs 5 or 6 fps faster in all situations.Maybe the Athlon processor is having trouble loading the textures fast enough (?) I've tried all the available VGA & Nvidia graphics drivers with no success, has anyone else had this problem ? Aidan.
November 21, 200223 yr Thanks Guys...I'll take the lack of response to mean no one has had this problem.
November 22, 200223 yr Aidan,The problem may be the drivers for your controller chips versus the drivers for your graphics cards. Make sure you are using updated and proper drivers for Win2K for all your peripherals. Bill Sieffert
