ATI Radeon 9700 Pro??!!

I'm thinking of buying this graphic card in january... I have heard that's the best card in the market right now...Does any of you have this card? If yes, are you satisfied or not? Does it work properely with FS2002 and the newest games...?Need an answer fast.. Thanks ;)

I have built systems with this card and it is VERY fast. The drivers work well with many games however I have not tested it on flight sim software.

I am one of the people on the forums that have one. My story differs from the others, I am not having too much success with mine. I've hard a hard time setting it up and trying to deal with the load of issues that come with the card.I believe Nvidias NV30 is due to be released around that time, perhaps you should look at buying from a store that offers exchanges, that way you can try it first before making your mind up.

Cheers,

Greetings,I just got a new Dell with the 9700 Pro and I also got a 19" Flat Panel Monitor. First, the monitor is wonderful and flight sim has come alive!Second, I am seeing some awesome framerates (I can lock FS at 30 or 50 and it stays up there all the time) with the 9700 and the 1 GB of PC memory. I can do this while maxed out on all the display settings. BUT...and I hate the BUTS...BUT, I am seeing some weird things. For example, when in Windows Mode, if I put my mouse of the icons in the quick launch taskbar or in the system tray, the framerates drop to 2.5 and I get this wave effect. Never saw that before. I emptied out the unneccesary junk from MSCONFIG and it still does it. If anyone has any ideas about how to correct this, I would be grateful.I also see some ground texture refreshing during flight with no loss of framerates during this.I think there could be a little SP1 going on here - Dell sent the system preloaded with it much to my dismay. And, I think that the vid drivers need some tweaking. I am sold on the FP monitor though. The jury is still out on the card, but the system is only a few days old. I will keep you posted.Fly Happy, Fly Safe!Ted "Shureflight" ShureAAL333 - Assistant Hub Manager - KBOSAmerican Virtual Airlineswww.flyava.orghttp://ftp.appcenter.net/Shureflight/Pics/AmericanFlagAA.jpgGod Bless America!Proverbs 3:5,6Dell P4 3.06 GHz/5331 GB PC1066 RDRAMRadeon 9700 Pro (128)Dell 19" UltraSharp Flat Panel Monitor-Primary Dell 21" Trinitron-SecondaryWD 120 GB 7200 rpm 8 MB databurst cache &Maxtor DiamondMax 60 GB4X DVD WriterTurtle Beach Santa Cruz Digital with Altec Lansing 995 5.1 THX DigitalWindows XP Pro, (SP1 and DirectX 8.1 Preloaded by Dell)CH Flight Sim Yoke USB CH Pro Pedals USB

I bought the same system from Dell with the 3.06 HT and Radeon 9700 Pro. When FS2002 is minimized for say 30 seconnds or more and then returned to normal, the image is either split or "torn". This is corrected my reloading another aircraft. To avoid this, every effort not to minimize is made. Has anyone reported this anomoly ?

As you can see from my sig I too am running this amazing piece of hardware. Target frame rate of 40-50?? LOL can run at 65-70 no problems. There are issues w this card that is true but you will find that 90% of these are from incorrect driver installation or non updated Bios and Chipset drivers. If you provide me w all your system specs I can help you towards a relatively painless install.Let me know.Bobby

HiI'm also running the 9700 pro. Works really well on standard scenery , everything is set to MAX - if you are thinking of using the photorealistic scenery that covers the UK -you will find that it uses every ounce of this cards horsepower - but still works extremely well, again all of the options are on max. Mine is running on a AMD 1900 - 1GB memory - and tons of hard disk. Interestingly though is that CFS3 is terrible! Really clunky.

Ted...just took delivery on the same system (almost) nad seems to be stabel now. Has some trouble setting up network for Project Magenta...bad DLL's (can't copy or overwrite them!) but now all seems well in the Airbus 320. While I get solid 30 FPS with max sliders I do take hits down to 11's on Simflyers Airports..do you know of this?

I will probably go for the 9500PRO or the 9800PRO if I get rich, These nvidia cards all they do is cause you a big #%*^ing load of greif.

Hi guys,I just recieved my new Dell 8250 too! (2.53GHz512 PC1066 RDRAMATI Radeon 9700 Pro)But one problem I've been having, is that my pro pedals die after 10 minutes or so and will not come back to life unless I disconnect and reconnect them. Are any of you having the same problem with them? I'm curious as to if the problem is with my set of pedals, or with all CH Pro pedals. Also, I'm having no issues with my 9700 Pro. It runs FS like a dream. Thanks,CF-AOA
