January 8, 200323 yr Would anyone have any idea why my benchmark scores vary from one test to another sometimes only minutes apart? For example earlier tonight I got a benchmark of 8033, not changing any settings at all I ran it again straight after and it was at 7402. This is not the first time this has happened. Sometimes I can drop 1000 in subsequent tests! Any ideas?System Info Version: 2.2Operating System: Microsoft Windows XPProcessor: AMD AMD Athlon XP2100+ @ 1.75 GHzGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600Total Physical Memory: 512 MBFree Physical Memory: 295.82 MBMotherboard Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer INC.Motherboard Model: A7A266
January 9, 200323 yr Hi.It sounds like there is something, not quite right. I have an 1800 OV to 2000, GF3 and I get around 8500-9000.Look at your filtering
January 9, 200323 yr I would there is definately something wrong! I have only tweaking the Memory timing and FSB and my scores on 640 x 480 are over 14000!Operating System: Microsoft Windows XPProcessor: AMD AMD Athlon XP2100+ @ 1.873 GHzGraphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 (Gainward Stock - no tweaking)Total Physical Memory: 1024 MBMotherboard Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer INC.Motherboard Model: A7N8XCooling: Koolance / Maze2 / Water WetterTemps: CPU 36C
January 9, 200323 yr Just for grins, check your Memory total after you run the test. I bet it gradually goes down along with your scores. On my system, P4 2.2 GHz with 512 DDR and a GeForce 4600, when I run the "Normal Prformance"bios, even with all of the AA and other settings truned off, my scores are 9200-9400 range. When I select the "Performance Mode on the Gigabyte Motherboard, I jump to 11,241 but not at a price. While the FS2002 seems to run just fine, my Yahoo browser (Internet Explorer) constantly locks up. Go figure that. Who would think web pages could stress a computer. Must be all of those pop-up adds.Terry
January 11, 200323 yr Thanks for you ideas a responses guys, I tried a few more adjustments but I just couldn't cure it. I updated all the drivers too make sure I had the best/latest - no luck. Terry, your scenario "just for grins" was bang on - that's exactly what happens.I had an expert look at the PC today, he ran a few tests and declared that my motherboard just aint up to the job, way out of date! He suggested installing an Nforce2 chipset based board which will happen on Thursday. Apparently this will go well with my CPU and the Ti4600, he knew someone with a simlar spec to my system who got a benchmark of just under 14,000! Can't wait! Tonight I did a test and got 5088 - I then rebooted the PC and got 8033 - this board really has lost the plot!Fly safe guys!
January 11, 200323 yr Thats nice to hear that my Noraml/Performance mode trick worked for you. I sure wish that I could stay running in the performance mode all the time but something in my system must be too unstable to handle those web pages.Terry
