Well Mr sieffert, I guess you made up my mind. Im new at this stuff. Would you be so kind as to steer me in the right direction of what to get. Thankyou much..

Well, just about any modern computer (1GHz and up) can run just about anything fairly well. Even my Athlon T-bird 1.2GHz can run FS2002 with everything maxed out at 30fps at ground level (from what I heard, thats a real good framerate).Everything on that list will make your comp a 'mean machine' :) . Although you might want to consider getting XP Home instead of Pro. It costs less, and it performs just as well as Pro. Pro just adds some more advanced features like encryption and stuff like that.

Are you building it yourself, or is it being put together for you?I'd want a different motherboard. That motherboard has a VIA chipset. By all accounts, the nForce2 chipset is the way to go with the XP processors. I just recently built a system that would be roughly comparable to yours, but using an nForce2 mobo, and it rocks. Of course, I've tweaked and overclocked the daylights out of it, and I'm guessing you are not looking for a system to overclock, but you are depriving yourself of some serious performance advantages if you don't go with an nForce2 mobo.-Basil

Thanks for the info to all who responded, Yes im going to build it myself. I was trying to decide which motherboard to use. You talked me into the nforce2 motherboard. I have noticed some other talks on this forum about that. Thanks to all. Great forum by the way. Lot of information on here. Buying a new computer these days can become quite frustrating these days. Thanks again.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes, and if we can be of further help.-Basil

To take full advantage of the Nforce 2 motherboard get an AMD 2600+ (333 bus speed) and use your memory in pairs. Good luck!

>To take full advantage of the Nforce 2 motherboard get an >AMD 2600+ (333 bus speed) and use your memory in pairs. >Good luck! Or better, get an AMD 2100+ T-bred B and overclock it to 2600+ speeds. Cheaper, and the performance advantages of increasing the FSB are significant. My 2100+ is currently running at 11x193FSB = 2123 Mhz, and my memory at 386 Mhz. I'm getting killer benchmark scores, and great performance in FS2002.At that speed, my 2100+ actually registers as a 2600+ to the BIOS and to CPU utilities.-Basil

WHAT! HUH! Did you ever see the cartoon with Long Horn LegHorn and the Chickhawk!!"Will I say, boy! Ya not lissenin' to me! It was a joke son!!! A joke, I say!!! Stupid Dog could never take a joke!!!"*:-* The system you detailed looked very good to me!! I hope I didn't mislead you!:-eek
