fs2k2 acting up after upgrading

Featured Replies

Hello , I need your opinion.two month ago i upgraded m y pc from a pII 400 mhz with 256mb sd-ram to a amd athlon xp 1700+ with a 256mb DDRMost of the time during a flight in fs2k2 my PC becomes very very slow and getting all choppy and stuffwhat could the reason be ? cpu ram video card adapter (i got gf2 64mb drr)??Can someone help ?

When you upgraded, did you reinstall the OS, upgrade to a different OS? If so, did you updated to the lasted OS updates? Did you install updated drivers for your controller chips, sound, graphics adapter, NICs, modem, etc.? If not, you need to review the rev levels of these items and possibly update. How much disk space do you have left on your hardrive? How much space is allocated to the Windows swap file. If your diskdrive is nearly full, it slowly cuts down on the Windows swap file size, if Windows is controlling the swap file size. Check that through device manager, performance page. You could use another 256MB of RAM for a total of 512MB (Win98/ME) but it is probably not your problem. Also turn off unneeded TSR programs that use resources. Check the programs/applications running by hitting CTRL+ALT+Delete one time. Try turning of some that don't have any application towards the operation of FS2002.

You upgraded to an Athlon. Are you running a Via chipset based board?. If so have you installed the current 4.45 chipset drivers?. Also, it is been shown that you really should remove your current Vid card drivers, upgrade the Chipset drivers if needed and than reinstall your videocard.Hope this helps...P.S. another 256Megs of ram would seriously help your situationBobby
