February 14, 200323 yr Strictly speaking, I know the answer is 8X, but that's not really my question. I recently purchased a GF4 Ti4200 with AGP 8X. So my question is, which might be expected to be the better performer - the GF4 Ti4600 (AGP 4X) in my server, or the 8X Ti4200 in the client computer. I know the simplest thing to do is make the swap and find out, but I was hoping that someone here might be able to enlighten me.Also, I'm somewhat ignorant and assuming that 8X is primarily a hardware function requiring no new programming. Not to be confused with DirectX9, which clearly will require new coding to be fully utilized. Is this correct, or does the 8X standard require new coding as well?

February 14, 200323 yr I think you'll find your answer here:http://www.tech-report.com/etc/2003q1/3dmark03/index.x?pg=2The higher clock speed and memory bandwidth of the 4600 is more important than the 8x of the 4200.-Basil
