Hi,Just recently, I often experiencing the dreaded blue screen when I started my computer (not all the time, but quite often). The message says: " A fatal exception OD has occured at 0028:C005900C in VXD VMCOD(01) + 0000035C. The current application will be teriminated."My system's spec is: AthlonXP 2600, MSI KT333 mobo (latest Via 4in1 driver), GF4 Ti4600 (Driver 41.09), 512 MB PC2700, Win98SE.Can anybody help me solve this problem?Regards, japangg

I search the MS site for this error with no luck. VXD are driver files and VM is Virtual Machine, MS version of Java.I don't know if any of the above means anything. One thing you might do to eliminate a virus is to do a complete virus scan using a clean boot floppy.Other than trying to watch what you are using at the time of the error, I don't know what can be done about it other than reformatting your Windows, installing all the drivers again.

Hi,Thank you for the reply. I also searched MS Knowledge Database and found no reference on this matter. The Database however, indicated that VMPCD is the Virtual Math Co-Processor. I agree that formating the HD and installing Wun98SE fresh as the only alternative to address this issue.Regards, japangg

Actually VM stands for Virtual Memory and there are several VXD drivers that start with "VM", but hey you may be right about the Virtual Machine.Up until a month ago I was also getting the dreaded BSOD on my VIA chipset mobo. I also had the latest 4in1 drivers. Finally decided to try using older drivers of the 4in1 and since then NO MORE BSOD's!!!!I hate VIA chipsets and I swear my next mobo will NOT be VIA based! They have so many versions and patches for their drivers that they make M$ look like a bug free software company...;)Also try a bios update perhaps and possibly check that your settings are conservative in your BIOS.This link might have more info for you:http://search.microsoft.com/gomsuri.asp?n=...rmsg/kbfe0d.aspGood luck.-Leo

Hi Leo,Thank you for your input. Yeah, I too have been contemplatinbg about switching from VIA based mobo to other (well I even hope I can switch to PIV 3GHz with ASUS P4PE mobo in the near future).Regards, japangg
