April 1, 200323 yr Please stay way from 9700. I have the 9700PRO and since I got this card it went twice back to the factory because of multiple problems.Their support seems to be OK, but that is not correct. It is a pain in the a** dealing with them, and even today after over two weeks of waiting for the card I still don

April 9, 200323 yr Just loaded the latest 9700 drivers and got this 3D Mark 03 score, http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=574385
April 9, 200323 yr I've had no end of problems with all 3 Radeon 9700 Pros I've owned. I've tried tweaking, the whole nine yards, it just won't work for me. Hopefully you'll have better luck :)I'm getting rid of the one in my system and going back to nVidia for a while.I'll wait for prices to fall on the Radeon 9800s I think Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
April 9, 200323 yr Alex, Didn't think you were picking a fight. I'm sorry you have had such issues w the card. I have installed more than 8 of these cards in mchines I have built and have had Zero issues. Who at comp told you you would be better off dealing w the factory?. I would have taken the store credit and grabbed another one off the shelf. As I spend a lot of time At the ATI forums I am well aware of some of the issues. You will notice though that at least 60-70% of these issues are due to incorrect drivers, incorrect bios' or incorrect installation of DX9 components. Yeah it's a tricky card to get working at times but it all comes down to basics. Good luck in whatever you choose. Just make sure it's at least equal to the 9700. When AA and AF are enabled in high resolutions, there is nothing that comes close. Except a card that costs $100 more and even that is not soundly comparable. Bobby
April 11, 200323 yr I agree with bobby. Would also say that most of the early problems with the 9700 were do to motherboard problems and not the video card or drivers. I got one of the first Sapphire cards with the original released drivers (bought it last September) and never had a problem of any kind. There is no card out that compares except the 9800 which is even faster, but more expensive. Would also say that no war was going on over at the ATI forums with the 9700. Just a bunch of guys who loved the card trying to get their systems updated and configured properly to get the most out of it. I hear the NV35 has great promise. Hope so!!
April 20, 200323 yr I have to go with the ATI fans on this one. I went from a GF4Ti4600 to a 9700 Pro a few days ago and the Nvidia is no match. Texture updatzing is so much faster and even in shrp turns and dense scenery I maintain fps above 20. That is with 1600x1200x32 FSAA4x and AF8. I could not get this kind of performance with GF at FSAA off and AF4.Just to add:Radeon http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6348266GeForcehttp://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6164256Alex
