Win XP Repair

Featured Replies

I have been getting some errors with my XP latley and it is really driving me crazy! There is a windows repair option when you boot of the CD, does running this Win repair option do anything to my current installation of windows? Will it mess any thing up? Some help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Yes, there is a repair option. Set the BIOS to boot to the CD, go through all the things you would if you were going to install Windows, don't select the first repair, select install, then it gives a repair option a few steps later.I am not too sure what it does, I think it reinstalls all the original files.

I would like to know what it does first before I do anything like that. I just want to make sure that it won't screw up my settings and all my saved stuff that I have.

I figured it out, It was acutally a problem with Windows Media Player, but now have another problem, my text in some games, and the windows log on screen is in Italic mode?, where can I change this, you can see from the shot below where it says "To Begin, Click Your User Name", you can see that it is all Italicized, and it used to be normal. Where can I change that, it is all affecting some games too.http://members.shaw.ca/kstangrecki/weirdfont.jpg

I have run the repair once, and I don't remember it screwing anything up. It's a different story if you have to to a full re-install. You will need to re-install most if not all of your programs becuase you will have lost all registry info for them.

Well thanks for the info on the repair, I really hope I don't have to do a reinstall of windows to fix that font problem, anyone have any idea's? Please! It's annoying as hell!, Here is a shot of what all HTML emails look like, as you can see it is harder to read!http://members.shaw.ca/kstangrecki/weirdfont2.jpg

I have had this problem before. I uninstalled Top Gun's Hornets nest, and it removed some fonts of mine, I reinstalled it again, and everything was back to normal. What I suggest you doing, is finding someone to send you the're fonts folder, I would but I am not running XP Pro till hopefully tommorow or next day.

Thank you Shane! I will be sure to get a freind to send me there fonts folder from XP. I will let you know if that worked!

Strangest thing just happened! I just opened the fonts folder, too see how big it was, just wondering how long it was going to take for my friend to send it to me, and know everything looks fine! The emails look how they should, and the log on screen is normal, very very strange, I will probably still get my friend to send me the fonts though.

Well, LOL.... Must of had to reinitialize....
