April 19, 200323 yr Installed a new motherboard: SOYO SY-P4X400 Dragon Ultra and XGX G4Ti4200AGP8x with appropriate driver. No video on monitor. Monitor self check OK. Removed Ti4200 and installed a 64 MB PCI video card. It works OK. Motherboard has warning at AGP slot "for 1.5 volt AGP only". Can't find voltage rating for the card in any of the mfgr literature and XFX doesn't answer my e-mail for support.I know a lot of you use the Ti4200 and I have read the posts. Do you know if this is a 1.5 or 3.3 volt card? Thanks in advance. Rod
April 19, 200323 yr What I know is that Geforce cards needs 3.3 volts for the slot to run. Some motherboards have a place where you can increase this, but it looks like the one you have cannot.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. April 19, 200323 yr Rod, Sorry to tell you this Bud but that board only supports AGP Pro cards. Maximum voltage is 1.5 volts. Either you need a Pro card or you need to change motherboards. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(Bobby

Thanks in>advance. Rod Rod,Your MB has a Universal 8X AGP Pro with adjustable voltage, that is 1.5 voltage default as well as control for 1.6, 1.7 (only rarely used for high overclocking), keep the default setting of 1.5v.Every AGP video card manufactured by Nvidia since the GF3 has been 1.5 voltage, that includes every version of the GF4TI series. You should have no problem running any modern AGP video card (GF4/Radeon9xxx/GFFX etc.).Try installing again and make SURE connection at the AGP slot is good use default AGP BIOS settings to start with, if still no joy then you probably have a bum card and shopuld return it for a replacement or RMA it. Let us know how it goes.
April 19, 200323 yr To Add, your AGP slot can support 1.5v AGP cards only, that is your motherboard can only support .8V (8x AGP) or 1.5V(newer 4x AGP) cards. The use of older 3.3V AGP (2x AGP) cards like the GF2-xx-AGP would probably damage the motherboard.
April 19, 200323 yr Thanks Randy and Bobby. If I read the later posts you are referring to GF3 or earlier, so I may luck out yet. BTW check out the date on the posts, its New Years Eve! Rod
April 19, 200323 yr Thanks for the encouraging response.. I wasn't too comfortable with the way the AGP card seated when I tried it and then the warning scared me off. I will uninstall PCI driver and card and then try the AGP card with its driver. Will report back when done. Rod
April 19, 200323 yr Randy you didnt remove the tab on the AGP slot thats for Pro cards only did you?. If you did you may not have your card lined up right thereby causing damage to the card or the board. Just another thought. You are running the latest bios for the baord right?.BobbyP.S. Paul is correct in what he states. Although SOYO does state the board only supports 4XXat 1.5 volts and .8 volts at AGP8X.
April 19, 200323 yr Heya Paul,If you feel up to it, the new library could sure use your previous FS config tweaks among the many other tidbits of your expertise. I realize loosing them from the older system (Poof!) was a drag, but re-creating them in the new one will ensure everyone on the board gets to profit from all your hard work figuring them out.The same goes for all the smart people in this particular forum. Theres a ton of great info rolling around inside your heads: get it out where the community can benefit from them! :-)Hope to see your posts over there.Take care,Elrond---[link:forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=177]MS Flight Simulator Tips and TricksEnthused AVSIM Peon - with minor Bucket and Mop duties (they only let me roam near the AVSIM toilets!)
April 19, 200323 yr NO JOY, Paul. I unstalled previous driver, shut down pulled out the PCI card (again) it's a Force 4 MX420. Unplugged and cleared the CMOS. Installed the AGP and powered up. All I get is the monitor self test on the screen. Windows does not "see" the AGP card. The PCI is back in and working fine. Guess I'll contact Tiger Direct on Monday and beg for a RA. Thanks for the input. Rod
