April 21, 200323 yr Hey all,I was wondering if there were any issues with the Radeon 9700 Pro AIW and the Nvidia Nforce2 chipset as found on the Asus A7N8X? I'm getting a 9700 any day now (waiting for the UPS guy) and I'm just curious as to any issues I may have. Thanks!
April 21, 200323 yr Head on over to www.Asusboards.com and search the boards over there. There is a wealth of info to be found. There were issues with the first revisions of the NForce boards but later issues seem to be cleared up w newer Nvidia Chipset Drivers and Bios updates. Although a lot of people have done it you may find that a clean install will result in less problems upon startup. You may be able to just pop the card in and go. A couple of hints: If you have any problems make sure your Bios and chipset drivers are up to snuff. Also make sure to remove any non ATI drivers before installing the ATI Card. If you do have problems w the card and you have performed all the above checks first than I would suggest a nice fresh install of your OS. Than install your chipset drivers (Latest Versions) Than install DX9a, than install your choice of drivers. The latest cats are very good but I prefer the latest from www.Omegacorner.com They are the latest cat versions that have been redone to resolve some issues. Also contains the 9800Pro softmod. Beautiful image quality and great performance.Bobby
April 22, 200323 yr Hi there,I found absolutely no problems with the Radeon 9700 Pro and the A7N8X motherboard. And a 9500 Pro runs very well on my father-in-law's computer with the same motherboard.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
April 22, 200323 yr I have the A7N8X Deluxe with the Radion 9700 128 DDR Pro running on Win-Xp-Pro, And had unresolvable popping and cross bleeding of other aircraft engine noises in MSFS2002 I tried everything on this site http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13 Short of a new bios update. I am too chicken to do that! I had to disable onboard sound and reinstall my Creative live drive 5,1 sound card to cure It! :-mad .
April 22, 200323 yr Hi there, did you run Windows update lately? There's an nVidia media driver dated 19/3/2003, which doesn't appear to be available from the nVidia website. Maybe that could fix your problem.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
April 22, 200323 yr Thanks for the info! But I have grown weary of screwing with my computer for now. PIC 767,Radar Contact and 2002 are running fast now,With no sound problems, And I just want to fly!
April 22, 200323 yr I know what you mean... You'd probably be best off waiting for FS2004 before trying the nVidia sound again :).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
