Why does my CPU speed in BIOS keep changing...?

Its driving me nuts. Every now & then I will notice my FPS are lowerand when I reboot into BIOS somehow the CPU speed has changed. I always save my changes but it won't stay at the setting It is supposed to be at. I only happens maybe once/month......Greg

some motherboards have a setting if the computer does nto post right to reset the CPU speed.

Greg, Have you changed out your CMOS battery w a new one? Also, are you running the latest Bios for your particular motherboard?. If not there may have been a Bios update to correct this issue.Bobby
