May 5, 200323 yr My Microsoft Precision 2 joystick is acting crazy when I use it it with FS2k2.The joystick "locks up", and will not take any inputs. It will cause the plane to bank, dive or climb and the joystick can do nothing to correct the problem. But, if I hit the 5 key on the number pad, it works for a few seconds, before it locks up again. I have to keep hitting the 5 key to keep it working. The joystick works perfectly with every other game that I use it with.It is calibrated correctly also.I recently had to uninstall and reinstall FS2k2. I am wondering if this may had had some effect on the joystick. Or, maybe I need to reinstall FSUIPC. I am lost as to what to do next.Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
May 5, 200323 yr When you uninstalled fs2002, did you delete any residual fs2002 folder left on your hardrive. If not, it may be the cause of your problems since the fs2002 uninstall doesn't remove any addon or other files you may have installed in the fs2002 folder after the initial installation.Several things to look at are the settings for the joystick. I would look at them prior to entering the simulator, just click the settings selection on the startup menu page, then select the controls assignments and sensitivities.Another action you could take is to rename your fs2002.cfg to fs2002.cfg.OLD, restart fs2002, let it stabilize, setup you joystick settings in the new fs2002.cfg and see if the problem is corrected. If so, delete fs2002.cfg.OLD.I recommend using FSUIPC in any case. You should delete any previous FSUIPC.ini files prior to starting fs2002 with FSUIPC installed. If you are using FSUIPC joystick calibration, then you will have to calibrate you joystick again since the FSUIPC.ini file contains those entries (Note: you could cut and paste those entries from the old FSUIPC.ini prior to deleting it. However, since you are having problems with the joystick, this may be unwise.). Bill Sieffert
