May 10, 200323 yr Maybe someone has run across this problem before. I like using 4-speakers for my gaming(Half-Life TFC, Battlefield1942, FS2K2...etc). http://home.attbi.com/~magnetron/4speakers.jpgOn my previous(backup p4-2.4 p4b533mobo)system everything worked fine. But with my new system(XP2800+ A7N8X-D), every time I start FS2K2, my 4-speaker setting goes back to 2-speakers :-( and I do not see this behavior in my other games :-) Tried changing soundcard, videocard, drivers...etc but no luck. Soundcards tried: onboard AC97, Audigy Gamer and SBLive 5.1 System: XP2800+ Asus A7N8X-Deluxe2x256meg corsair CMX256A-2700LLPTATI 9700 Pro30gig IBM 7200 52x cdromSB Audigy GamerMy system looks very similar to my son's as viewed here ==> http://home.attbi.com/~magnetron/xp2500.html john (KEWB)
May 10, 200323 yr Are you using WinXP Pro? If so, try making your changes in your administrator's side vice a user side. Bill Sieffert
May 12, 200323 yr I occasionally get that occuring too. HAsn't happened for a while though so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. Not only did it change from 5.1 Surround sound to 2 speakers, all the EAX, bass, treble etc and environment settings went all to hell too.I'm running XP Home.
May 13, 200323 yr Thanks for the replies :-) Nice to know I am not the only one with this problem. Oddly enough, I am running XP Pro on both my systems, and aside from the mobo, cpu and some other hardware, both XP installations are identical. I do not see this behavior on my P4 2.4G system with XP Pro. After FS2K2 starts, I can bring up AudioHQ and set speakers back to 4 and all is fine until the next time I start FS2K2 :-(john(KEWB)
