May 20, 200323 yr Can anybody please help with some advice. My PC specks is as follows :Celeron 766VIA Motherboard380 Mb RAMESS Solo PCI Sound CardWindows 98I bought a GForce 4 MMX 440 SE. When I boot up the PC, everything works fine, untill I want to play FS2002. The graphics is excellent, but the sound is very scratchy. When I disabled the GForce 4 and operate with the onboard VIA excelerator, the sound is fine and everything seems to work properly. When going back to the GForce 4, the sound is scratchy again. I've tried quite a lot of things in the BIOS, but I seem not able to rectify this problem. Any other games is working well. This problem only excists in FS2002 and IL2. Can anybody please help!!!!!!!PS The motherboard only supports PCI slots, and the Soundcard and Gforce card therefor are PCI
May 20, 200323 yr What driver version are you using? I would recommend going to the latest version to see if that helps. Also, make sure you have the latest chipset drivers. Latest drivers for your soundcard, etc. But the vid drivers are probably the culript.
May 21, 200323 yr Open Device Manager and double-click on Computer. A list of IRQs should appear. Check to see if the Sound and Graphics Card are sharing IRQs. If so try moving the cards to different slots to see if it makes a difference.I also agree on Fred's suggestion of getting updated drivers for your MOBO controller chips. You can check to see what chips you have in Device Manager by opening System Devices and looking for names, such as: Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi. Bill Sieffert
May 21, 200323 yr Thanks guys. The current version on the GForce is 43.45, which I prosume is the latest driver set for the card. I have also updated the soundcard drivers, but still no go. As mentioned, this problem only occurs in FS2002 and IL2 and Delta Force. I am currently considering taking the GForce card back to the shop and tell them what to do with it. I realy at this stage cannot say anything good about Gforce 4
