Gameport Problem

Featured Replies

Hi,This won't be a problem for much longer since I'm building a whole new computer.. but I'd like to try to get it fixed if I can so I can enjoy FS during the weeks while I wait for all the new computer's stuff to arrive. :) Basically, all joysticks have just ceased to work when plugged into my old Soundblaster PCI card. Win98 control panel claims that the gameport device is working properly, but any yoke or joystick I hook up claims to be "Not Connected" in the game devices configuration.I have the latest version of the sound card's drivers as well as the latest version of DirectX. Can anyone think of anything that may cause this behaviour? Any help would be appreciated.-Shaun

Look for an switches in BIOS or the Soundblaster Software to enable MIDI MPU-401 and enable it, if found.

I don't have this setting in my BIOS, or in the "Multimedia" settings under Control Panel. Is this what you meant by soundblaster software? If not, where would I find the soundblaster software.-Shaun

examine your sound card and make sure the gray cable is connected from your joystick port to the card...maybe reseat it. Good luck!

Hmm I'm not sure what you mean.. the gameport is on the card.. there is no cable that connects them..-Shaun
