August 4, 200322 yr Since FS9 runs pretty good on my current system (usually 10-20fps), I'm wondering about the feasibility of just upgrading my processor rather than getting an entire new computer to increase FS9 performance further. My current system is a Compaq 8000 series, AMD1800+, 512 PC2100 DDR RAM, GF4 Ti4200 64MB with 1410 driver o/c 275/565, 80G 7200 HD with 40G free, Win XP Home sp1, DX 9.0a, etc.....not sure what motherboard I have for the AMD1800+ chip, I assume it is Compaq proprietary board....My basic question is can I easily upgrade my chip and/or motherboard to a faster AMD or P4 processor? I thought I would check here first about the feasibility before checking with my local computer upgrade place, so I'll know what to ask for. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. Steve J.
August 4, 200322 yr If you got the cash, there is always something faster on the market. Otherwise, FS9 should operate satisfactorily on your present system.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
August 4, 200322 yr Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was suprised at how well FS2004 runs on my system. But as I eventually add back the Meridian, UT, etc, I expect I'll be marginal on frame rates. Thus, I was wondering if I could upgrade only my processor at a modest cost.(Also, on my original post, the Ti4200 drivers should be Nvidia version .4403.....and after searching my documentation and system information I still can't determine the model of my motherboard....how is the easiest way to locate this info? I'm assuming that for most processor upgrades I would also have to have a new mobo and ram?) Thanks. Steve J.
