Ultimate Gaming Machine

Featured Replies

ive decided its about time to upgrade my PIII 700 to a more modern system. The problem lies in the fact that i live in melboure australia and consequently the only custom computer dealer I know OF is Dell. Does anyone have any knowledge of other custom dealers such as alienware or g-machines that ship to or are based in australia. Other wise Dell is the only option... not that thats a bad thing but they're not really catered towards all out gaming...Help would be cool,Regards,Mark.

Hi Mark, not being in Australia, I have no idea what systems are available there or not, but have you considered building your own? You can buy all the parts that go into a top-of-the-line Alienware system (except maybe the fancy case :), and put it together yourself at only a fraction of the cost. It may be worth seriously considering, especially if you can't find a ready-made gaming system to your liking.Just an idea...Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

I've been happy with the 5 Dells I've had over the past 6 years (Two XPS Ts, Two 8250s, and One I8500). If your going to buy from them I'd suggest the XPS series or the 8300 if you don't need a fancy case. The XPS is geared toward gaming, but the 8300 can also be a gaming machine concidering you can get the same components on it.I'd have to agree with Gotsa that building your own is the way to go these days. I know that's what I'm going to do with my next system.

I have to second the other two. Build it yourself. There are many sources on line that are very reputable and you can get exactly what you want and don't have to "settle" for what the clone-maker thinks you should have.I have built my own for at least 10 years and have been entirely satisfied with the results.
