September 2, 200322 yr I want to upgrade my video card to a 128mb AGP type card. But after checking out my Intel Desktop D845WN motherboard specs. It has one AGP 4X/2X 1.5V connector. All the cards I see are 8X AGP.Will the 8X AGP card work with my motherboard? Is there a big difference in 4X and 8X?Can I get a 4X AGP 128mb card?Should I just get a PCI video card? I heard FS2004 does not like PCI cards. Thanks for the info.Danny :-beerchug
September 2, 200322 yr Danny, No unfortunately you mainboard cannot support 8x AGP. There are still 4x AGP cards available on the market for cheap prices, in Australia around $ 65 - $ 100.Not much different, just that the bandwith transferred from the mainboard to the card is higher than 4xYou still can get PCI graphic card, if I am not mistaken Tom Allensworth said that his PC have PCI graphic card, still work fine as he showed a Meljet 777 300 ER pics on FS2004 beta. You're best to go with AGP graphic card.
September 2, 200322 yr You can plug an 8X card into the 4X shot with no problems. I am running a MSI GeForce 4200Ti 128MB in a 4X slot. The card is downward compatible and will not use the 8X functions.Do not buy a PCI slotted card if you have AGP. That defeats the purpose of your computer having the AGP slot.W.
