September 25, 200322 yr Ok Brand new computer.Intel 3.0 gig1 gig ramRadeon 9800 ProClean install of Windows XPAll updates appliedI have read about the issues with the Radeon cards and FS2004, but surely this something more then that.My computer builder believes its all to do with the current driver issues, I believe its probably a faulty card. I am currently using the 3.7 drivers but the 3.6's makes no difference. No problems in DXdiag tests???It makes FS2004 basically almost unusable.Anyone with any suggestions , would be much appreciatedCheersPete
September 25, 200322 yr Hi Pete,I just installed my Radeon 9800 Pro yesterday and haven't had any issues with it. I'm currently using the Omega drivers which are available from www.omegacorner.com. Maybe you can give those a go?Have you tried running any graphics benchmarking tools such as 3D Mark? You may want to download and run, see if you can complete the tests without the tearing. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
September 25, 200322 yr G'Day John,Yep, tried the omega drivers without success, and 3D mark SE also,it runs awfull......tearing still occurs, the screenshots really dont show the full extent of the problem, it really is badCheerspete
September 25, 200322 yr >Ok Brand new computer.>Intel 3.0 gig>1 gig ram>Radeon 9800 Pro>Clean install of Windows XP>All updates appliedBeing fully up to date won't cause the issue you show but it will slow your machine down. Rule of thumb for every customer I build a machine for, find out what they are going to do with it and apply any applicable updates.>I have read about the issues with the Radeon cards and FS2004,>but surely this something more then that.Sure is, only issue with Radeon cards is menu flickering and tearing of text in certain menusMy computer builder believes its all to do with the current>driver issues, I believe its probably a faulty card. I am>currently using the 3.7 drivers but the 3.6's makes no>difference. No problems in DXdiag tests???Actually your both possibly right. Remove the side of your case and make sure the GPU fan on the card is operating. Overheating will cause the artifacts you have. Overclocking the card will also cause the exact same image problems. With all due respect did your builder overclock the card to boost performance figures? How were all the drivers installed? The correct installation procedure is 1: Install Intel Chipset drivers. 2: Install DX9 BEFORE your Radeon Drivers. 3: Install either the current ATI or my personal choice the Omega's. Make sure you reboot after every step. Your motherboard is also running the latest Bios right?. If not this can surely cause a problem if the board has issues with certain hardware. What are your exact system specs as far as MB manu. Memory manu. etc.Let me know how you make out.Bobby

September 25, 200322 yr Install Asus Update, download and install the latest BIOS. As Bobby said, check the GPU cooler. If its all in order, consider returning the card for them to test. If heats not an issue it sounds very much like a bad card. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
September 25, 200322 yr First thing I'd try is disabling Side Band Addressing and Fast Writes in the BIOS. No real adavantage to having them on, and they can cause instability and corruption.
September 26, 200322 yr Now that's how you post system info Lol. As soarpics said I would try disabling Fastwrites. You cant disable SBA unless your MB allows it. Fastwrites is not the real issue here I don't believe. Try running the card in 4X AGP mode. There were known issues with ASUS baords and Radeon cards running 8X AGP. There is no need to run 8X as you can actually hurt performance with todays current games as the 8X bus is not filled even with 4X AGP.Try this out and let me know how you make out.Bobby
