October 14, 200322 yr Hey! I was wondering if you guys have any tips on where to get started. I know what I want in it. But I'm not very good when it comes to power supplies and what not. Would it be wise to buy a case with a mother board and power supply already in it? Then add the rest of the stuff on my own... Thanks!:-jumpyhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA395 / [email protected]
October 14, 200322 yr Hi Kenneth,it would be easier, if you'd let us know what you're thinking of getting :). As far as power supplies go, I have an Enermax 460W PS, and I'm very happy with it. However, this may not be the best choice for your hardware. As to the motherboard, some suppliers sell 'bare-bone computers, but those normally include a CPU as well as the motherboard , case and PS. If you want to put it together yourself, you may be better off getting the separate parts anyway. Depending on the layout of your case, it may be quite difficult to mount the CPU with the motherboard already installed. I normally install the CPU and memory before putting the motherboard into the case.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
October 14, 200322 yr Try this site: http://www.myaopen.com/I've used them quite a bit and have always had good results...
October 14, 200322 yr I'm looking at a killer PC... only specifics are the 1024 MB of RAM, the 9800 PRO Video Card, Audigy 2 sound blaster, and a processor of at least 3.0 ghz.:-jumpyhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA395 / [email protected]
October 14, 200322 yr Try taking a look at this site, they have some smoking PCs already made and cater to the Gamer and Overclocker:http://www.ocsystem.net/systems.aspPrices are pretty good as well.JB
October 15, 200322 yr If I remember correctly, you had a 2700+. What's wrong with that? If you have to upgrade, wait until early next year for the AMD FX57, it'll be 939 pins, use unregistered memory, and be quite a bit cheaper than the leading chips now, and still be the leading chip. It'll blow everything out of the water most likely. Add a Radeon 9900 Pro to that (forecasted 25% better performance than the 9800Pro) which is a totally next gen card, and you'll have an awesome system, assuming you get good RAM and a good mobo.
October 16, 200322 yr I don't have a 2700+. I have a crappy mother board, good processor, with crappy cards. :(:-jumpyhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA395 / [email protected]
October 16, 200322 yr Its some Intel MOBO with integrated sound and video, only with PCI slots. So I'm stuck with a GeForce4 MX 440 PCI card. And integrated sound. The processor is a P4 2.0ghz.:-jumpyhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA395 / [email protected]
