In the process of changing drivers for my Ti4200 I seem to have screwed up some reg setting causing a code 19 error and I now cannot install my drivers properly. I have tried system restore and it didnt work, in fact i tried every point with no success. Is there anything I can do other than format my disk and start from scratch? I really dont want to go through all that crap and I would appreciate all help with this matter. I am such a dumbass,Yours,markyboy.P.S. This is the error message:Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Hi,how did you install the driver? Are you using XP? Did you remove anything from the registry when uninstalling the old driver? You could try uninstalling your driver, then shut down your computer. Physically remove the card, connect the onboard graphics, then boot up again. Windows should now detect the onboard graphics and install a generic driver for it. Now try and find a removal tool for nVidia drivers (I think it's called 'Detonator Destroyer'). Remove all the remnants of your previous driver and shut down your computer. Reconnect your graphics card and start up again. Now install the nVidia driver according to the instructions. If that doesn't help, you could try a repait install of Windows. This will reinstall XP without you having to format or uninstall your other programs. Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Markyboy,Right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. Double click the display adapters and click on uninstall. When that is finished, click on Start>Programs and verify that there is nothing having to do with Nvidia or your card maker in the program files. If there is, and an uninstall is available click on uninstall and follow the directions.Power the machine down as Gosta suggested. You shouldn't have to hook up the onboard video. You may not even have that option available to you. Fire up the machine and windows should recognize the card and begin the driver search portion of the hardware install. You can either allow it to search for the driver or cancel the search and install the drivers manually. When done you should be good to go.One question though. Why on earth were you digging around in the registry? Lol. You do know that there is no need to remove any old traces of Nvidia drivers as each update to a newer version takes care of this for you. All you need to do is download the newer set and double click the setup icon. Everything else is taken care of.Hope this helps you out.Bobby

Thanks for the replies. Let me clarify my position. I am using XP and removed properly through the add/remove programs function the NVIDIA display drivers. After a reboot I ran two programs namely Driver Cleaner 2 and NFR (NastyFile Remover) which I got at guru3d.com (and have used with no problems in the past). After running them I went to install my previous driver (44.03) and things seemed fine. When the machine rebooted after reinstalling the driver I went to change my display properties and found that although I could change to my normal desktop resolution of 1280x1024x32 the advanced options of the video drivers are completely unavailable i.e. refresh rate AA AF settings etc. I checked the device manager and it does not even list display adaptor let alone the actual card. I tried to add it manually through the add hardware wizard and again the Ti4200 is listed there but it tells me it is unable to install as there is a problem (code 19) etc.I never did anything to the registry personally it would seem that one of those programs has done this. I am an experienced user and well adept at changing video drivers but as the name of the post states I screwed something up this time. It is a real annoyance as though I have or can back everything up I really really want to avoid a situation whereby I need to reinstall XP coz of the damned video driver. Right now I am stuck with a crap refresh rate and poor video performance though everything else is fine.I'll try removing the card and see if it makes a difference but I have a feeling it wont as the error in the reg seems to relate to XP's ability to detect and install the thing proper.Regards,A frustrated markyboy.

OK Guys I figured it out! Tried to install XP back over itself to see if this would sort it, during the install it told me that it was unable to locate a couple of files. One made reference to AGP and so as I was left with no option other than to skip I duly did so. After install was done I found myself in the same situation so I reinstalled the Hyperion 4in1 drivers. Voila!!! After the VIA 4in1's were done and it rebooted, XP detected the card and we are back in business(for now lol). Many thanks to those that offered help.markyboy.
