November 20, 200322 yr Can I hook two computers direct or do I need a hub of some sort?If I can go direct how do I do it?
November 20, 200322 yr You can use a "crossover" cable to network two computers. That's how I connect my laptop to my desktop to transfer files, share the internet connection, and share a printer. I have XP on both machines, so I just ran the network setup wizard on both computers and was off and running. I don't know how straightforward the software setup would be with other OS's.Dan
November 20, 200322 yr While you can accomplish the task as indicated in the above post. I recommend you install a 4 port router/switch (with or without wireless capability). The router will take care of assigning the different IP addresses plus add a hardware firewall to your internet connection. You also will not have to tie up one computer with the router functions nor have to have this computer operating when you using the other computer.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
