Hi all!I was considering to acquire 512mb to 1GB of RAM to my machine... Wich ASUS motherboard would you suggest me for this purpose??? Can I purchase any kind of RAM and just fill up the slots, or each motherboard just accepts one specific kind of RAM?? And finally, what is the difference between a PC3200 and a PC2100 based memory???Thanks,Lucas.

Hi Lucas, the numers designate the RAM's front-side bus speed. For best results, it should be synchronized with the FSB of your CPU. For example, an XP 3200 runs at 400MHz FSB, so PC3200 RAM is recommended. An XP2700 runs at 333MHz, so PC2700 RAM would be OK, and an older XP2000 running at 266MHz would be happy with PC2100 RAM. Of course, you can run your CPU and RAM at different speeds, but this will most likely degrade performance, so it's only advisable to buy faster RAM, if you plan to overclock your CPU, or upgrade it again in the near future (obviously, there is no harm in underclocking your RAM).Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
