MS FS 2004 on MAC G4 Powerbook?

Featured Replies

I need some help please. I have been told that the MAC G4 PowerBook with software like Virtual PC will not satisfactorily run FS 2004. Is that true? If so is thee any way to run it on my MAC? I assume there is no MAC version of that flight simulator--is that correct? TIALew443

Most virtual PC-type programs cannot properly emulate or translate DirectX 3D and sound calls - this is where the problems lie. I am presuming that the VirtualPC software will run the simulator, but it will NOT take advantage of any video or 3D acceleration your computer may have - this is a huge problem for the sim, as you might imagine. Games are just plain ol' hard to work through emulators. The only partially sucessful emulation package for non-Windows systems is WineX, a version of the X-Windows system designed for Linux. BUT, even that doesn't run Flight Simulator 200x - just some games work on it. Sadly, the Microsoft Flight Simulator line is pretty much "exclusive" to Windows right now. If ever they get it fully functional in Linux, I'll be jumping ship! Good luck,-Greg

I was of course hoping for better news but who knows--maybe sometime in the future ---Lew
