Question on HD controller speeds.

Featured Replies

I did a computer test on http://www.pcpitstop.com/ tonight. One of the error reports provokes a question: (system specs below)-------TIP > Unusually low disk performanceDrive C has an uncached speed of 7.73 megabytes per second.Drive D has an uncached speed of 8.01 megabytes per second.Drive E has an uncached speed of 7.7 megabytes per second.Drive F has an uncached speed of 7.63 megabytes per second.Drive G has an uncached speed of 7.71 megabytes per second.Drive H has an uncached speed of 7.41 megabytes per second.Drive I has an uncached speed of 6.91 megabytes per second. For comparison, systems with the same CPU and clock speed as this one have a speed of 12.81 MB/s. ------------Is this the speed that data is read from the HD? I have 7200 RPM drives, and have (I believe) ATA-100 configured. One of the suggestions is to re-install Intel App Accelerator. Do I need to uninstall my existing version of the s/w first, before reinstalling (maybe with later drivers) ? Or is it just an install over the existing s/w, such as DirectX?Also looking at DMA to ensure it is enabled. Thanks for any answers. This is no biggy, as my system suits me fine. I'm just curious, and may try to fix it if it's simple :)Bruce.System:P4 2.6G1G PC21007200 RPM HD w/ ATA-100ATI 9800 Pro.
