February 27, 200422 yr I have an on-board sound chip, and have currently ordered a PCI sound card. I know how to disable the on-board sound in BIOS. Should I also disable it in Device Manager (WinXP Sp1 Home), prior to doing so in the BIOS , or doesn't it matter to XP (ie. will be ignored if it's not found, and won't cause any interactions with the new card)? If I do want to disable it in DM, is it just a matter of deleting it?Thanks,Bruce. February 27, 200422 yr Just disable it on the BIOS and reboot. XP should pick up the change without you needing to fiddle with the windows settings.MikeP4 2.4C @3.44 285FSBAsus P4C800 Deluxe1gb Corsair XMS PC3500 Asus V9950 FX5900 Ultra 256mb 500/950SB Audigy2 Platinum ExWatercooled baby!!!Pics: http://community.webshots.com/user/chksix2002
