March 12, 200422 yr hi guys, recently my Alienware mobo. (Asus P4T533-C) P4 3.06, 1gig of PC1066 RDRAM was replaced with an Intel 875PBZ mobo. P4 3.00, 1gig of DDR PC3200 ram. also, the WD 60GB 7200RPM with 8MB cache buffer HD was replaced with the Seagate 80GB 7200RPM 8MB cache HD. 9800XT, Audigy2 ZS & all other hardware is the same. my performance in FS9 has gone downhill with this new setup. for example, with the Asus mobo./RDRAM setup when flying at cruise altitude in the default 747 on top of a solid overcast my lowest fps was 10-12. now with the Intel 875 mobo./DDR setup the same FS scenario listed above my lowest fps is now in the single digits...4-9. the popping/filling in of the terrain textures now is larger and slower. also, the A/C textures "pop" in as well. this Was Not happening with Asus/RDRam setup. All FS in game settings and ATI control panel settings are the same. Full "stock" FS9 install with Bill Molony's "Atlanta Skyline, Turner Field, Atlanta Airport Addon" installed on both systems. running WinXP Pro SP1, DX9.0b, latest mobo./chipset drivers, video, sound drivers as well. any help would be appreciated.happy flyin, fm
March 15, 200422 yr Hi,Why did you REPLACED your system !!! ???I have a system configuration like you had, and i can tell you, that i get 25 fps fixes (locked at 25) everywere and almost with all addons including the most 'advanced' like PMDG737NG, which i love...All the sliders are max. in FS9...In same (big) airports it can drop 3-4 fps, but no problem.Xaser III 2000aAsus p4t533-cIntel p4 3.06ht cooled by ZalmanHercules 3D Prophet 9700 pro 128mgsSamsung 1Gb Pc800 RDRAMSeagate 120Gb 7200rpm 8mb...PauloLPPT
March 19, 200422 yr Author hi Paulo,it wasn't by choice. 2 mobos.(both Asus P4T533-C's) bit the dust in less than a year. (not from overclocking btw), after the 2nd one Alienware decided to go with the Intel 875PBZ mobo since they weren't selling Area51 systems with RDRAM anymore. i wish i still had a (Working)850E chipset mobo. with RDRAM. this DDR Memory with a P4 is a Joke compared to the PC1066 RDRAM with a P4. if at all possible stay away from the P4/DDR combo. if you already have an 850E chipset mobo. after seeing what i've seen you Won't be happy. happy flyin, fm
