Experiencing sound problems...

Featured Replies

Hello,I am having real bad problems with sound and windows media player. FS seems to be the only thing where my sound is crystal clear.Maybe something is wrong like priority. I am really the world's worst when it comes to sound issues. So can someone help? As in Media Player any kind of sound played is crackly and quite distorted, especially the bass.It is not my soundcard as I swapped my primary sound output to my onboard card and I get the same thing with playing music or sounds in Media Player.Regards,Alexander Martin.http://img33.photobucket.com/albums/v99/wa.../alexbanner.jpg

Try turning the bass down.

Another thing that could be a problem is the audio codecs installed or not installed on your computer. You didn't indicate which OS you have. If you go to the MSFS Forum, then the Tips and Tricks subforum and search on "No ATC | Lost ATC | Lost Sound, you should find a tip for checking your audio codecs for MSFS. It will also show you what codecs are installed on your computer. You might also open Microsoft Media Player, select Tools, Options, Player tab, and adjust the Download codec section. To see what codec is embedded in an audio file, you can play the file in Media Player, select File, Properties while the file is playing. If you have WinXP, you can right click on a file, select properties, summary tab, and it should list the codec used.Lastly, you can run the directx diagnostic to see how various sounds are played on your system. Press start, run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the directx diagnostic stabilize, review the version installed (ver 9.0b recommended), select Sound tab, run sound tests, and listen to the various resolutions.W. Sieffert

The codecs in Media Player 10 are screwy ... expexted on a beta mind you. Stick with Winamp for now.
