June 22, 200421 yr Dear Fellow Simmers, Sometimes when I shut down the computer it says windows can't shut the following program: DEVLDR or DEVDLR (I can't remember which way around the last 3 letters are) Any ideas????Many thanks :-zhelp Stan Harvey30NM SW EGKK
June 22, 200421 yr Let me guess... you have a Soundblater card? ICKKKK!!This is just some of the junk Creative thinks you should have running, and of course it's buggy. You should be able to eliminate your problem by going to Start>Run>type "msconfig">click on the "Startup" tab>disable the DEVDLR.exe on the list of apps.I believe Creative has a fix for this at their site, though it's been a while since I've been there (moved to Turtle Beach because of stuff like this).Hope this helps,Greg
June 23, 200421 yr Thanks for the info Greg, I appreciate you taking the time to post. Unfortunatly DEVDLR isn't listed in the apps under start up. Any more ideas were I can find it?Thanks Again Stan
June 23, 200421 yr Press CTRL+ALT+Delete once, select the Processes tab and see if it is loaded there.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
June 23, 200421 yr Hi Stan,Are you now using, or have you used in the past (on this OS install), a Soundblaster card? If so, the DEVDLR.exe is on your system.W.Sieffert's suggestion is a good one. Also, (and he would know more about this than I), I do know that the .exe is a DOS application (old). I'm not sure if it would show in the Processes tab of XP?Have you done a system search for "DEVDLR"?Greg
June 24, 200421 yr If it is a DOS device, open/edit autoexec.bat to see if it has it loaded during bootup. Also check for a config.sys file, which can be opened with Notepad.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
June 27, 200421 yr Thanks for all the advice, I'll get there in the end. Can anyone recommend a better sound card????Cheers :-beerchug Stan Harvey30nm SW egkk
