That shouldn't be there. Remove it from your system (move the little bugger to a floppy in case you need to put it back for some reason). Also, I think it's time to put HijackThis to work. Make sure you've got it installed (I keep it in C:Program FilesHJKThis... you can name the folder whatever you want). Drop the .exe in the folder and fire up HijackThis.Run a scan and compare it to what you posted above. From what you've posted above please put a check at this line:O4 - HKLM..Run: %systemroot%system32dumprep 0 -kClick on "Fix", and then reboot.Cheers,GregP.S. Are we having fun yet? :-)

Oh My God. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .it's gone.....hip hip hooray, well I never, thank you Greg for all the time and effort you have spent on this with me, it's so comforting in this day and age that we in this community can call upon someone who is experienced and willing to help someone with less experience to resolve an issue (notice here that now we don't have problems, we have ''issues'')well, the little bugger is gone, and I just wanted to make sure that you got my T H A N K Y O U Greg.Steve.

Congrats! The reg entry you deleted was nothing more than a Kernel Fault Error (they're usually created when we must do a soft reboot by hitting the Reset button becuase the computer hangs). Did you also remove the monitor.exe? Don't know that that would have caused the error message at start up, but it should not have been where it was.Keep an eye on things. You might see the message again. If so, keep in mind that the problem is caused by something calling the monitor.exe at start up. It's that simple. You can create the same error message manually by simply typing "monitor.exe" in the command line.If you haven't read Cruachan's post here http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=2504&page= you might give it a read. His suggestions are very good. Makes for a clean system. In an earlier post you asked, "...did you see my other posts in the other forum about my Water Cooling experiment."I did. I tend to agree with the recommendation that you do some overclocking on your system. You have a really kick-*** system there, and you could no doubt get it to deliver more for your simming. There are lots of resources on the net about how to O/C easily and safely. An O/C of at least 10% would be a piece of cake on your quality build. You are to be commended for putting together such a nice rig (I'm still not past the point that mixing water and electronics is bad, LOL... yet lots of folks are doing it without problems).Glad to hear you've ridded yourself of the little bugger,Greg

> > > You are to be commended for putting together such a nice rig,< < < what a nice thing to say, thank you very much.Hello Greg, greetings from the UK once more.I have always taken pride in the fact that until I actually set the final purchase order with whichever company I'm buying from, I am constantly re-checking what works with what without any problems, and what communicates with what, again without any problems, whilst making sure it's the fastest that I can get my hands on, (it's a minefield out there, and theres allways a sales man trying to sell you something thats rubbish) this machine now is well over a year old, so that should tell you that I was one of the first in the UK to get the Hercules 3D Prophet 9800 Pro, same with the Barracuda Drive as well, not to mention the Hercules 7.1 Digifire sound card,it's just the way I am, and what I like doing, there's really no other reason to it than that.hopefully the next rig will be 64bit and faster still etc.I feel the need, the need for speed, lmao.cheers Greg.PS you mentioned sites for overclocking safely, can you recommend any for my setup at the moment.thanks againSteve.PPS I forgot to mention, in case you didn't know, I know absolutely bugger all about overclocking, so a kind of Noddy Format would be nice if you follow my meaning.and Greg, what type of improvements are you talking about when you suggest O/Clocking, for egsample, what would I see with FS9 etc.cheers matey.and say 'Hi' to you're mate the Arnie for me...... sorry, I just coulden't resist it.

I read your replies to those who implored you to overclock, and I can undertsand you having a bit of reluctance. But just dabble in the oveclocking for now. It's fun! You don't have to try for that 20% O/C right away. Try 1-2% Be forewarned though... it can be addictive :-) Overclocking can be as much fun as simming. And you certainly have a rig that can offer alot of fun. This is one site I can definately recommend: http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=1 There are plenty of others. You should Google the subject and find sites you're comfortable with. What one person uses another might not prefer. Most of all, HAVE FUN!That's what I'm doing right now... my wife handed me an ATI X800 Pro for my birthday this weekend. So I'm evaluating whether I'll keep it over my 9800 Pro modded to XT. So far I haven't seen alot to make me keep the X800 for FS9. It's clearly a great performer, but I'm questioning whether it's worth $400US to my simming. LOMAC runs alot better with it, as does IL2-FB. FS9 is marginally better at this time... I'm still tweaking to find the sweet spot.Cheers mate,GregP.S. Pfffft... just read my post here! Who am I kidding! I'll keep that card. Would be crazy not to. Besides, if I don't then the BOSS will be unhappy. And we don't want that. So, I'll suffer along with it just to spare her feelings. LOL LOL

Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday Dear Greg, Happy Birthday To You, LoLcheers GregSteve.PS, once more matey, then I promise to leave you alone, (*;*), what differences did you see in FS9 by O/Clocking,ie. faster, better, ?I didn't take to LOMAC unfortunatly, but might well give it another try not there are those patches out, and I thought it weird of Matt not to mention at the FS show here in B/Ham that he was running it on a Dual Processor PC !Steve,

"what differences did you see in FS9 by O/Clocking,ie. faster, better,?"My 3000+ is running (for 6 months without a single problem) at 3500+... almost 17% faster. And I do indeed see that in the sim. Sometimes (at LAN meets) I have to downclock to rated speed, and then when I go into the sim I see the difference. Some will say you can't see a 10% gain... I can. The sim simply runs better for me where it's at in my sig. It runs OK at rated speed, but it runs better overclocked. That's been my experience, though I've known alot of folks who FUBAR'd their system when they tweaked it without knowing what they were doing. That's a major part of the fun for me in overclocking... the learning. Some may not like it (I call those folks PlugnPlayers). They just want to play their games/sims. And that's OK! Me though, I HAVE to tweak my system for better perf. Some will enjoy doing it, some won't. To each his own I say. There is also a practical side to this arguement... overclocking wrings the best performance out of a system. And overclocking can be useful in putting that next major upgrade back a few months. These points are true, but to be honest I do it because it's FUN. :-) Cheers,Greg

I have a P4C 2.6 running happily and cooly at 3.38 and it sure does make a difference in FS9! Thanks for all the educational info in your posts above.David
