December 27, 200421 yr Hi and Merry Xmas everyone!I want to upgrade my current p.c. not only for fs9.1 but also for half life 2 and the other new games out and coming out.Currently I have a radeon 9700pro with 1gb ram, 250gb hdd and asus a7n8x deluxe mobo.I don't know whether to stay agp or go over to pci-express and would appreciate any suggestions relative to the UK market. I like the look of the x800xt radeon card but don't know too much about it such as is it only pci-e or is it agp as well?Any suggestions for super quick gaming machine are much appreciated - budget is about
December 27, 200421 yr thanks for that, but what I really want are suggestions as to optimum configuration i.e. processor, ram, mobo, graphics.Rick
December 28, 200421 yr This is what I built,(specs are in the futuremark link), http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3514940 I used the Athlon FX55 Processor. With PMDG 737,USA Roads, KLGA scenery by Shehryar Ansari,(lga2004.zip)New York Objects Version 3.0,by Tatu Kantomaa (nyc_obj3.zip)FSGenesis Appalachians & NE 38.2m Terrain, Active sky, Radar Contact 3,Ultamate Traffic, with traffic set on 50%,Display 1600x1200x32 with second monitor at 1024x768x32,I get around 14 FPS doing touch and goes at LGA. My graphics settings are at the top settings in the dropdown boxes, except no water effects. My desktop FSAA is4x,with AF at 8x. As you can see, even with my system I have to make compromises.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/101889.jpg
December 28, 200421 yr Wow, what a mess, LOLI hope this doesn't happen to me when I upgrade. I think even the top-of-line computers are still behind in being able to handle so many add-ons. That's really a lot of add-ons you have running at once. Hopefully one day we will be able to run the sim with whatever eye candy we can and get good frame rates. The problem is, we get bored and desire the newer sim. I'll bet the fast computers out now run 2002 like never before. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
December 28, 200421 yr Maybe someday we will have a sim with all that built in from the start, that wont need $2000.00 worth of CPU,Vidio card and ram to run it.
