Floppy Question?

Featured Replies

Had a spare floppy drive, so tried to install it as a "B" drive like in the old days.I cannot get my system to recognize two floppy drives. both drives work fine as a single "A" drive, but I cannot get recognition from the second plug on the floppy cable. I also see no provisions in my cmos bootup options for such an animal. Setup for new hardware just recognizes the single drive as well saying it is working properly, but will not detect the second drive.Has this provision been deleted in the newer MB's bios or Windows XP?No biggy, and this has become more of a curiosity question than anything else. While I had my case open and was installing a new DVDRW/CDRW unit, I thought I would put in the spare floppy drive as well. One addon comment for what it might be worth to anybody having strange computer problems. My idea of adding the spare floppy drive evolved from a CDRW failure. I have come to the conclusion that of all hardware items, CDRW, CDROM, units have the weakest and shortest longivety. My wife's computer which has had an unbelievably trouble free history began to have all kinds of problems. Lockups, crashes, etc. etc. Replaced her CDRW with the DVD/CDRW unit out of my computer, all problems disappeared. This is the third time over the years on three different computers I have seen this happen. If strange things occur, a suggestion would be to disconnect this type of hardware and see what you find. Thanks:RTHATI Catalyst 4.10 Drivers for ATI CardS3 Graphics Inc.
