Help--Is this the best FPS I can achieve?

Recommended Posts

I am asking for help in determining why I do not get frame rates as I expect with my system. My current setup is:1. ASUS P4S800 motherboard, with Intel P4 3.0e 3Ghz processor, standard (no overclock) configuration, hyperthread enabled with set affinity=CPU0, FSB 800 mhz2. Video Card is ATI X800XL, standard configuration (no overclock), 256 mb GDDR3 memory3. Memory is Kingston Value Ram 1mb (2x512) DDR 400 mhz CL3 PC32004. Windows XP Home, SP15. 1- 120Gb Maxtor Drive partitioned C-D-E with FS9 installed on D, scenery on E6. FS9 with original FS9.exe and patched to v 9.1Startup FS9 is executed using fs9.exe through Ken's excellent FS9 Configurator. That said, I get 6-8 fps with default Cessna, default KSEA, no weather, default clouds. AA is 2x set through ATI, no AF, set to qualityUltimate traffic is loaded with 40% AIWithin FS9, these are the slider settings...DisplayTerrain Mesh Complexity=60Terrain texture Size=HighTerrain Detail=Land onlyWater Effects=HighDawn Dusk blending=onExtended Textures=onScenery Complexity=DenseAutogen Density=DenseDynamic Scenery=OffShadows=OffSun Glare=OnLens Flare=OnAircraftQuality=CustomVC Gauge quality=HighReflections=OnA/C Shadows=OffLanding Lights=OnWeatherQuality=CustomSight Distance=60 milesCloud Draw=30 miles3D Cloud Pct=60Detailed Clouds=OnDensity=HighHardware1152x864x32 (desktop set to same)Targer Frame Rate=42Render To Texture=OnT&L=OnFiltering =BilinearMip Map=4Hardware Lights=8Global Textures=MassiveAny comments or help would be appreciated. Needless to say, trying to run LDS-767 is impossible. I have tried all of the tips and tricks mention here and on other sites. Is the solution to just reformat the drive and reinstall FS9 (after backup of course)? As an aside, would the installation of Service Pack2 for XP make a difference? ThanksDom

I do not think that the installing for SP2 will make a difference, but I would anyways, much more security. Have you installed MOBO drivers for your system? If not that would be why you are getting low FPS.
