Sick of getting FS9 crashes to desktop........

Featured Replies

Hello!I have tried just about everything to find out why my FS9 keeps crashing to desktop and, of course not found the answer.I checked all my installations, which appear to be OK.No mysterious files, cfg-files OK, etc. and it still keeps crshingto desktop.I have and ATI X800 Radeon (very good), but maybe some setting may be wrong in the control panel; fast write, etc....Again, I would be very grateful for any help to resolve the problems.I use Windows XP Home Edition (which seems OK)Earlier I used Windows 2000, which worked fine with FS9.Maybe XP is not very good with FS9?Landclass files disturb? I had FlightScenery Rhode Island installed, but it kept crashing almost immediately when I used it.So, grateful for any help......again.Thanks!Hans HermanssonSweden

Hi,I used to keep getting CTDs every third time I play FS9. Kinda strange. I later found the culprit to be WideFS/ActiveSky 2004.5. When I got rid of WideFS and ran AS2004.5 on the FS9 computer, the CTDs went away. I doubt your CTDs are due to the same reason but if indeed, you are using that combo, then you might want to try getting rid of WideFS.The more likely scenario is overlapping AFCADs. Go through your AFCAD scenery folder to make sure that you have ONLY ONE for each airport. There's a utility on the AVSIM File Library for this but I've forgotten the name. You may want to search for it.Another thing you may want to try is the "seasonal fix". It's got something to do with landclass files, I think. Search on the forums for "seasonal CTD" and you'll likely find a few threads on this. It's a huge hassle but persevere with it! You can get CTD-less flying with some patience!Edwin
