CH Rudder Pedals

Featured Replies

I recently purchased the CH Yoke and Rudder pedals. The yoke is working fine, but the pedals are giving me some problems with most aircraft. 1. I get a permanent 'BRAKES' message in the lower LH corner. 2. Any slight touch of the pedals immediately disengages the parking brake. 3. After landing the PMDG B747 and LDS-B767, the rudder pedal steering function seems to fail and the nosewheel and rudder go into a rapid left/right oscillation. I have tried recalibrating the pedals, but they just seem to be super sensitive which is very frustrating. Neil Bradley

Seems to be on ongoing battle and something they could have implemented much better IMO..Note that you can adjust the Sensitivity and deadzone from within FS... (good luck with that) :-)You might notice that if you pull both feet back hard on the pedals at the same time you can make the "brake" indicator go out....I hold the pedals in my lap and pull back on them before/as I go to calibrate.. seems to help a bit with the neutral position. Here's something I found but can't remember where:1. Open Microsoft Flight Simulator2004.2. When in the first menu select "Settings"3. Select Control Assignments.4. Click on the tab labeled Joystick Axes. 5. On the "joystick type" combo box, select the CH Pro Pedals USB (on some machines this may read HID 3 axis, 1 button controller). 6. Delete all assignments until all axis are empty (the assignments may already be empty).7. Next, click on the rudder axis then click the button labeled Change Assignment. 8. Very carefully using only your HEELS move the rudder pedals back and forth. You should now see Axis Z. Click OK (the green check mark). 9. Next, click on the Left Toe Brake axis then click the button labeled Change Assignment. 10. Very carefully using only your LEFT TOES press the left toe brake down and then release it. You should now see Axis X. Click OK. 11. Then place a check mark in the Reverse box to the right of the axis listing. 12. Next, click on the Right Toe Brake axis then click the button labeled Change Assignment. 13. Very carefully using only your RIGHT TOES press the right toe brake down and then release it. You should now see Axis Y. Click OK. 14. Then place a check mark in the Reverse box to the right of the axis listing. If you accidentally move the wrong axis you may get the wrong listing. If you do, simply press the button clear and try again until the correct axis shows in the dialog box.Additionally, make sure that you turn off auto-rudder in the aircraft realism setting. Otherwise your rudder pedals will not work correctly. This is done in the aircraft --> aircraft realism section.

Tom,Thank you for the advise. I carried out your suggested procedure and adjusted the null settings. It has improved the operation but there still remains too much sensitivity to touch. My solution now is to (when almost stopped) go through the park brake set/release procedure. Unrealistic but it works. Only problem is that with the PMDG B747 you get brake temperature problems.I must admit that I am disappointed in the pedals, and I would not recomend them. There needs to be some way to stiffen their action up to simulate frictional/mechanical and aerodynamic loads, and as for the brakes to have at least the first 10 mm of toe movement non-brake.Regards,Neil

Neil,Besides the "null" settings you did play with the sensitivity settings as well ?If you have a wall or desk behind the pedals, you might try placing some blocks of foam rubber between the pedals and the wall... can add some resistance to your pressure... just make sure that it does not push them past center towards you when at neutral position.Worth a shot now that you've spent the money :-)Not sure if $400 pedals work any better... I think it's just the way MS has done that part of the software.

Have you tried the CH Products Control Manager from their website?

Hi Jim,Yeah, forgot about that one...BUTI don't think it's for USB controls (or is it)Then again... I guess he didn't say if he had gameport or USB yet :-)

It works for USB,It will fix his issues.:-)
