Video driver upgrade = missing aircraft textures??

Featured Replies

I recently upgraded my video drivers to Radeon's ATI Display Driver v8.162 (my video card is a 256MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X850 XT PE). Ever since then FS2004 has been flakey about displaying external aircraft textures, and sometimes gauges in the VC. Sometimes the aircraft textures are visible, and sometimes they disappear entirely, leaving me with just a gray-shaded model. I'm bummed. Before I go back to my earlier video drivers, anybody know what might be going wrong?Thanks.-- WaltFlying FS9.1 at 1600x1200x32Intel Pentium 4 640 HT 3.20GHzWindows XP Pro SP21GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x512M)256MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X850 XT PEATI Display Driver v8.162DirectX 9.0cViewSonic P95f+ 19 inch Ultrabrite CRT MonitorSound Blaster Audigy2 ZSCreative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 SpeakersMS ForceFeedback 2 joystick

FYI, I just uninstalled the newer v8.162 drivers and reinstalled the April 2005 drivers that came with my system. FS2004 is fine now. Go figure.Anybody have a better alternative? Thanks.Flying FS9.1 at 1600x1200x32Intel Pentium 4 640 HT 3.20GHzWindows XP Pro SP21GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x512M)256MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X850 XT PEDirectX 9.0cViewSonic P95f+ 19 inch Ultrabrite CRT MonitorSound Blaster Audigy2 ZSCreative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 SpeakersMS ForceFeedback 2 joystick

If those drivers work well for you, I recommend you keep them. Newer drivers don't necessarily offer an improvement over older ones - it all depends on your individual system.Cheers,G
