I am looking for some good speakers. Does anyone have familiarity/using the Logitech Z-5500 Digital package or something comparable? Thanks!

I have the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 (which cost me a fortune because the shipping cost of UPS Express from the US to Hong Kong is nearly as much as the cost of the speakers themselves!). They're not digital but the sound is incredibly good. Bass is solid but not overpowering. The satellites are very very VERY clear. Works well for both movies and music (for games, I use a different set of Klipsch speakers).I don't know about the Logitech Z-5500 but I once used a set of Klipsch 4.1s and my brother had a set of Logitech Z560, which were head-to-head at the time. Personally, I found the bass on the Z560 overpoweringly strong but what was worse was the satellites seeming a bit muddled with the high-range especially when it came to solo singing and/or solo instruments. Having said that, the Z560 weren't bad at all - just not quite up to the Klipschs, IMHO.These things are very subjective though - you may not notice any difference so you really should try these sets out personally before you make the purchase.Hope this helps.Edwin

Here's the two higher end multimedia speaker sets I'd recommend:Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 (Best for gaming & movies, good @ music)http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=712Creative GigaWorks S750 (Best for music, Good @ gaming & movies)http://www.creative.com/products/product.a...61&product=9306The Logitech Z-5500 is a decent set as well though overall not as sonically pleasing as the two above. I have a component HT setup in my room:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/131210.jpgHere's my new receiver (replaces the one in the above pic)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/131211.jpg

Hi,I got a set of z5500 and am very pleased with them. I've red pretty much every english speaking review available at the time and they all were very positive. Previeosly I've used them with my beloved Soundstorm (optical SPDIF, real time DD encoding) but since I switched my mother board and NVIDIA slashed SS on the NF3 and 4 chipsets I am stuck with a crappy Realtec onboard chip. I'm only waiting until the X-Fi's will become available in Australia at this stage.Bottom line: match those speakers with a decent sound card and you'll enjoy them. The only weakness is a not too defined middle range (still a LOT better then any other speaker set aimed for compuetr systems that I've heard). Also you should know that they are desined to be used on a desk so they aen't a good solution to drive a large room, but sound best in close range. When getting them you should make sure that you get the version with the replaceable speaker cables.Cheers,Alex YSSY
