January 4, 200620 yr I have a new video card, nothing to write home about (6600GT PCI-e).After installing new PC components, I have changed my room around a bit and am now attempting to hook up LCD monitors- one to the VGA port and one to the DVI. I realize that both will have the same picture, it's just that one is placed to sim and one to do other stuff like e-mail and work. The DVI output works fine, but I seem to be having trouble with the VGA output. At first I thought that the card may not support 2 monitors connected at once, however the VGA port appears dead even when its the only port connected. I've checked the manual to see if there is something needed to activate the VGA port, but can't see anything. Can anyone shed any light on what might be happening here? I have yet to try another VGA cable, but both monitors are displaying the same scenario: DVI works fine but VGA doesn't. ??Thanks- any info is much appreciated.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. January 4, 200620 yr Hi Bruce,That's strange - your NVIDIA drivers should be able to recognize both monitors immediately. When you go into Display Properties (right-click on the desktop and click "Properties") and then choose the Settings tab, do you see two monitors or just one? If you see two, then try checking one of the boxes at the bottom (something like "extend desktop to this monitor" - sorry I'm at work now, not at home so I can't check the exact wording.)Hope this helps.Edwin
January 5, 200620 yr Author Hi Edwin,"If you see two, then try checking one of the boxes at the bottom (something like "extend desktop to this monitor""That did it- this is my first try with dual monitors :), so I wasn't aware of the basics! I have yet to install FS9 and see what dual monitors does for it- I'm currently stuck in another flight sim- Elite v8.0- which has FS4 style graphics and would run smoothly on a PC at half this speed, but the flight model of the C172 included is nothing short of awesome and closer to the real thing that I fly than I have ever seen in a sim. I have bought it for instrument flight work on the PC.Thanks again for your help,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
