memory question

Featured Replies

Hi all, I just built an ASUS A8N-SLI Prem sys with an Athlon 64 4000+ CPU. I found my 1 GB of Corsair XMs memory was bad after extensive troubleshooting (2225 latency) and replaced it with Kingston "value Ram" 2GB).Now it works great. I am trying to decide whether or not to swap out the RAM back to the corsair after it is replaced or to sell it.Will I really see a performance gain going back to the Corsair XMS as far as FS is concerned?ThanksStan

"Will I really see a performance gain going back to the Corsair XMS as far as FS is concerned?"Probably not a gain in performance...Latency's are nice for bragging Rights...But I seriously doubt any one of us can tell the differance between ram running at 2.5,3,3 and 2,2,2...I like the Corsair Ram though...All I can say is if I were in your shoes I would RMA it...But then again I do not claim to be a smart man...he heSoo Glad she is running Right!!Have Fun!!

What was bad with your Corsair memory. Did you know that Corsair runs at a 2.8 Dram voltage. If it's under powered it will causes you errors. I had the same type of memory and I was getting errors until a Corsair tech told me to up the voltage for the memory. Now the system screams.

Thanks for the input, the RAM was definatly bad, manual and auto BIOS settins were tried, still multiple errors. New RAM fixed it.I currently have 2GB of Kingston value RAM dual ch 400MHZ DDR with 3337 latency. Will I see any perf gain or loss by going back to 1GB of Corsair XMS ddr 400 with 2225 latency? (after the RMA comes back)Stan
