Should do you a real good job with FS Dave. What power supply are you getting. Probably not an issue right now, but IF FSX supports SLI you might want to "double up" on the graphics cards then. Make sure the PSU will handle it.

Hi George,Thank you so much for your comments. There will be two graphics cards as posted but power supply will be normal 350watts.I thought that 'SLI' is double George? They are coupled together.Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

yup, they are indeed "coupled" as you say but right now what I gather is FS cannot take advantage of SLI at all. If you can up the PSU to 500 watts it would be a good thing. If not, no big deal. You can always change out the PSU down the road if it becomes an issue.

You Really ought to bump up the Power Supply!! You can check you video card specs...I'm not sure "a normal 350w is gonna do you...The A8N-SLI mb's are Picky about Power Supplies...Somehow...Not sure how they did it...But ASUS has apparently installed a "Crappy Power Supply Detector" in the A8N series of motherboards... :+ I personally would not skimp on the PS even if it is listed as compatable if it's at the bare minimum's...I would also choose a *Good Quality* PS...480w or better...I will see if I can track down the list of power supplies that are known to work well with the A8N's...It is an issue...Great Motherboard's!! But just like me...Kinda Finikey...he he...Good Luck with your new Computer!!

Hi Dave, out of curiosity, what are you upgrading from? Regarding the components you mentioned, a couple of questions, remarks and ideas: - Have you considered getting the same board but the Premium version? I ask because of the little 'southbridge' fan which can be pretty noisy and I would consider one of the weakest components of the combo. As you probably know, the Premium comes with a heatpipe and there's a premium price tag to it. IMHO, well worthwhile nevertheless... - If you want to upgrade the GPU department and get a second 6800GT by the end of the year, it might be difficult to find one. Here my guess is, that Nvidia will replace that line with some 7800s through the year as they're presenting the new 7900 series in March. Consequently, the 7800s will likely become the sub-top and perhaps replace the 6800s? - Based upon the fact that only the ACES team has an idea about FSX's requirements, it's almost impossible to tell how futureproof a system will be. My sole guess is, that FSX will require more memory than FS9. Seeing my FS9 hitting 800-900MB, I assume FSX boxes will really like 2GB FlyTendos... :-) Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap Edit-1, AFAIK, better not get an Asus nF4 board if you want to use a TV-card. Edit-2, that's interesting info, Chuck. Maybe the TV-card thing is related?

Ya Know...Japp has a couple of really good point's...I have an A8N-SLI Deluxe mb also...The chipset fan failed...to me it was no big deal as I build my own stuff and enjoy tinkering with these things...ASUS shipped me a replacement in no time and I swapped it out...But to my knowledge they havn't changed the fan that they ship with the mb so they are still failing with folks...The A8N-SLI Premium will eliminate that problem all together...I have one of those too..And it does Look way neater with the heat pipe!! he he...I have a BFG6800Ultra OC and a 7800GTX Overclocked videocards...I have run both on a 4000+ system...The 7800's GPU is Sweet...It does outperform the 6800...In fact I am trying to hurry up and get a new card for the FX-57 system...so I can put the 7800 back into the 4000+ which currently has the 6800 in it...I'll probably sell the 6800...Once you have had a 7800 you won't want to go back...he he...If you could swing a 7800GT...That would be nice...Anyhow...Here is a link to a forum I really like...I learned allot from here when I was building my first A8N-SLI Deluxe mb RIG...This is pretty old but most of the info(except driver versions ect) is still valid...In the very first post you will see a list of power supplies...http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/38623/Good Luck...
