May 19, 200620 yr I upgraded my PC around the start of the year to an ASUS A8NSLI, AMD Athlon64 3700+ (939), and 1GB of PC3200 RAM. My video card is an NVIDIA 6600GT (128MB).I have been thinking of getting myself into a better (potentially) position for FSX. While I know that not many people know the technical requirements (and those that do can't tell), I'm making a bold assumption that the features of SLI and dual core might be utilized, and so I'm starting planning on a similar system to what I have but with those additional attributes. The A8N is already SVI capable, but I'm looking at using the advanced A8N SLI-Deluxe to give me 16* for SLI, rather than the 8* SLI / 16* for one-only video card that my current A8N has.My question is more related to the dual core option. My current CPU appears to have both 64-bit and Hyper Transport technology (HTT), although I have no idea how to invoke HTT (does anyone know?). Is HTT the same thing as Dual Core? If not, can anyone offer a mobo and/or CPU suggestion to get dual core?BTW, I'm also planning on replacing my 128MB video card with 2 256MB ones, maybe a later version of the NV card too.Thanks- Bruce. May 19, 200620 yr Hi Bruce, IMHO, you already have a great system as is. ;-) The only weak link might be the display adapter and this - of course - mainly depends on the attached display (aka resolution). As you probably know, AMD will soon (very soon!) release new CPUs which will require DDR2 RAM and new mainboards. Intel also has some very interesting gear in the pipeline. Therefore, it might be worthwhile to hold back a little, let the new stuff mature and perhaps 'only' get a new GPU? HST, you'll likely only notice a difference if your resolution is larger than 1024x. @ 1280x, a 256-bit, 256MB adapter with an adequate amount of pipelines seems ideal. If you don't run hardware or software which require a Geforce (i.e. 3D-Glasses or stretching views over multiple monitors), I'ld opt for a Radeon due to the superior IQ. A useful listing of GPU specs can be found here: For Geforces: http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88&pgno=1For Radeons: http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88&pgno=0Pls note these pages occasionally take a while to load... :-) Hope this adds to thoughts, kind regards Jaap
