June 15, 200619 yr Hi GuysI'm hoping someone can help. I have today installed a second Asus 7900gtx pcie SLI card to my system. After doing so the card is recognised etc but when I plug the monitor in,Viewsonic VX924,it doesn't fire up the screen, I have to plug the monitor back into the existing card to get the monitor to fire up.I have updated drivers on both cards. My intention is purchasing 3 more monitors for a multi monitor set up.Help and/or advice would be appreciated.ThanksSteveAMD Athlonx2 64 4200A8N32-SLI Deluxe2mb Crucial pc3200Thermaltake 650W PSU250gb CAVIAR SE SATA112X Asus EN7900GTX Viewsonic VX924
June 15, 200619 yr Hi steve,Just a heads up refering to SLI. I hope that you do know that fs9 does NOT support SLI. Oh yeah as far is i can recall SLI doesnt support multiple monitors, i think i read that somewhere that someone removed the bridge and got it to work, can't confirm that though.
June 15, 200619 yr Hi DavisI am aware that FS9 does not support SLI fact is I don't want it enabled I have not bridged the 2 cards. Everything seems to be working fine except I can't get the monitor I have to work on the newly installed card and I am reluctant to purchase any new monitors until I get this problem sorted.Does anyone know how to switch SLI on and off in the Asus Nvidia EN7900GTX range of cards, i've been all through the installed software and can't find how to switch SLI on or off, I can only think I have accidentally activated SLI and that's why the monitor will not work on the new card.Ideas anyone?ThanksSteve
June 18, 200619 yr I am not up with the pcie standard but there was a Graphics BIOS setting for AGP and PCI that affected multiple graphics cards. The setting was usually set to PCI as a default. If a PCI graphics card was not detected, it then looked at the AGP slot. If found, it loaded the AGP initialized the AGP card. If a PCI graphics card was present, it would initialize the PCI card over the AGP. If one wanted the AGP card to be primary, then the BIOS setting had to be set to AGP.I would check your BIOS for a similiar setting for PCIE versus PCI.I downloaded your motherboard manual from ASUS. You need to read section 6, especially the "identical" info in paragraph 6.2.2.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
June 20, 200619 yr Thanks WSieffertI actually looked up the maual last night aand I was reading up on that very section.I will let you know the outcome. Thanks for going out of your way to help, I appreciate it.RegardsSteve
July 3, 200619 yr Hi Steve, have you manage to solve this problem yet.I am also looking at getting a new computer with mixed PCIe and PCI cards but have been told this cannot be done. This means I can only use two identical PCIe cards and be limited to 4 monitors.I posted in this forum but still no replies yet :-(Jezza
