What do you think about this for fs?

Featured Replies

All right, thank you. I dont really care about my other games perfomance, I just want to do whatever will make fs run without stutters with nice looking scenery.

Well hopefully my new pc parts will come soon and work nicely. This is my new setup:AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+Nvidia MSI Geforce 7900GTBiostar TFORCE4 AM2 ATX RoHs compliant AMD MotherboardMain OS 80BG HDDSecond flight sim hdd1GB of pc6400 ddr2 ramAntec sonata II case with 450Watt psuHopefully I can finally enjoy some smooth fs performance with nice visuals.

Thats a good setup. So next in the bios set FSB to 10 x 260 with HTT at 800 (4x) and the BIOS set to async If that runs, check the temps and if they stay with a load around 50 (can check that with ORTHOS PRIME) thats fine then if they go way higher get a Zalman Cu 3rd party cooler. Have fun with your setup.(p.s im not responsible when you overclock ok) ;)

Thanks alot, I appreciate your help.

Just curious, what temp is too high?

Is this the same pilot53? if not i have no clue what system you have. A stessed amd x2 3800 with good air cooling/flow and around 40% overclock (2.8Ghz) generally reaches around 50c/122f ish.. dont let it get way higher than that. Max for that CPU is 70c/158FObviously some can be cooler or higher depends on many factors.. so take my info just an general indication, and not a definate answer :).

Yep, this is pilot53, I have oc'ed the cpu and I am not even close to 2.8, it gets around 54-55 during normal use, and the max that I have seen it with pretty much the most cpu hogging scenario that I will ever fly into in fs it peaked at 57 at one point. That is with only the fsb set at 218. The actual speed is 2225 mhz.

:( normal use peaked at 57???.. Just curious as to HOW you have overclocked.. whats your Vcore and HTT setting? my fsb is at 280, doing 2.8 and max temp full load is 50/51.. Also what HS are you using?? With those temps you definatly need to do something about your airflow..because that is high..

Well its a stock fan and heatsink. I suppose I should get a new fan and hs. I used systool to test the oc, and then I set the fsb via the bios. If you mean cpu voltage by vcore everest says 1.3v. Hyper Transport is set to auto in cmos, but when the system boots up, it shows that ht is at 5x.

well yeah you should, perf. a all copper one.. What you should do is when overclocking is lower that HTT (wont make system slower) and raise that FSB more all the time making sure that the overall HTT stays lower or at 1000mhz. You might need to raise that Vcore too.check this tool:http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=96678

Thanks Ill give it a try, also what fan would you recomend, I have an am2 socket, does zalman make am2 fans?

. Double post.. :-hmmm

Yeah they do, only one sofar though.. but its a good performer as well a s a very sexy looking one :( The CNPS9500 Black Edition AM2.http://www.zalman.co.kr/

Thanks I guess thats what i will have to get. I'll do that after I sort out this problem that I have with my video card displaying colored dots all over the place. That has really stumped me. I have a 650 watt psu and anti aliasing is turned off.

Certain 7900GT's are off the bat used to getting RMA'ed. Many problems with the GT's. Whats the model number from your card?
