thanks everyone for the advice. I will probably get some more ram.>Just be sure to set your swap-file settings accordingly after>the upgrade.Could you please explain? As you can see, I am no expertRicardo

Hey Ricardo,No problem.. What I meant was that you can keep letting Windows handle the swap-file itself.. but ideally you should set it yourself, for one you can have more control over the disk space used and in some cases should you decide to, have control over where to put it.Basic rule of thumb optimizing-wise, is to set your swap-file on a drive that isn't used much, by that I mean one that isn't accessed much when using your computer, this for a little performance boost. Besides that set the swap-file size to around 1.5x the size of your physical RAM. Do NOT make the swap-file smaller than the amount of physical RAM you've got installed on your system.Regards,

Hi Alex, That's an excellent description of what more RAM may do for somebody. You'll hardly ever see RAM changes lead to higher FPS. @ OP, FWIW, with that CPU it's best to run 2 memory modules max and run it at a 1T Command rate. I believe your mainboard's bios has that setting. Kind regards Jaap

OK, I've got it with the swap file..thanks Davis!I think I'm making up my mind about what will be the result of adding ram. If I will get more bottom and smothness when flying complex planes into busy areas, then I'll go for it.So Jaap, it's better to have two 1GB modules than adding one 1GB module to what I already have (2 x 512MB modules)??? Is that general pratice or where you refering to Alex's CPU. Will adding only one more 512MB module be a good idea? (for a total of 1.5GB). Thanks everyone!!! Ricardo

Hi Ricardo, if you're on a budget and have single channel board, IMHO, get 1GB and add one of the 512MB sticks. 1.5GB and 256MB VGA memory is a nice balance for that system if it is for FS9 only. If the system is dual channel, thoughts have to change if you care for a proper RAM configuration with the CPU. HST, you might wonder about the correlation between RAM and CPU, AMD64s have inbuilt memory controllers. Kind regards Jaap
