Nvidia8800GTS question...

Featured Replies

I recently built a new machine: AMD64 FX-60, 8800GTS 640Mb card, 2 Gigs of Kingston DDR2 ram. My older gamer is: AMD 3500+, ATI x800, 1 gig DDR. Honestly, the older system has better graphics and I'm only seeing a very marginal increase in performance.I was wondering if anyone here has an advice on settings for the 8800 card. Here is what I'm experiencing. Taxi lines are broken and shimmer at a distance. On my older ATI based system, the taxilines were completely smooth and faded nicely into the distance. I've played with the new card's settings and cannot achieve that nice smooth look. The only advantage I can see with this new system is that the textures load more quickly. Other than that, I'm really not seeing any improvement. I guess it may take some time to sort the card settings out, but I've tried different settings for days and have had little success. Thanks in advance.Adam

Hi Adam, I had an ATI X1900XTX, and now the 8800GTS.In FS9, I have 8Q AA and 16 AF ,1280X1024X32, Quality texture. (with the ATI was set at 4XAA and 8XAF, 1280X1024X32)In FSX 8Q AA and FSX aniso checked. It works like a charm in FSX ,much faster than the ATI , and in FS9 , when clouds are very dense "smokes" the ATI.Hope it helps.Miquel Egea.
