Hey All,Back in late January, I purchased a new computer which I built myself with the following: Core 2 Duo E6600, 2 GB Corsair PC8500C5D Dominator, 768mb Evga GeForce 8800GTX resting on an EVGA 680i motherboard enclosed in an Antec 900 case along with a Noctua NH-U9F CPU cooler and powered by an OCZ Gamestream 700W PSU.There was a post back then that had a good discussion with several others including Bob Scott, Sandon Lyon and a few others. I have helped Sandon Lyon and others with advice on overclocking and tweaking their PCs for optimal performance. I hope you guys are enjoying your machines as much as I am.Now its been over 2 months since I have had my computer and I'm happy to say its been running solid since day one. I've had a few crashes and shutdowns but they were attributed to software related issues with other programs namely 3D Max 9 and some video editing suites. The fix was an uninstall and reinstall...simple.I have my system overclocked to 3.5GHz with RAM at 800Mhz on 4-4-4-12 timings. Getting 40fps solid in FS9 with the target slider set to 40 for optimal scenery and display performance. Been flying the dog out of the LDS 767 and the PMDG 744, loving every moment of it. Its a new experience in FS with a smoother framerate even when the weather is stormy and scenery extremely dense. I get an average 27-35fps depending on what scenery I'm using otherwise its 39.7fps.I had one BSOD in FSX but that was due to the video card overheating which I've fixed by increasing the fan speed to 100% (from default 50%) at all times. With the fans at 100% on the CPU and GPU, case fans at medium, its not as loud as you may think, infact it sounds like you have a house fan going in the summer time, doesn't bother me or the wife. Yesterday I received a new EVGA 680i motherboard from EVGA which I requested an RMA due to the fact that EVGA had fixed an hardware issue with the original 680i motherboard that prevented Quad Core CPUs from being able to overclock well. Since I only had a Dual Core, I requested an RMA just for the sake of future upgradeability. I'm happy to say, the swap went flawlessly, the new board works great, overclocked and running fast. It seems to be a bit faster than the first one. For those who have the 680i that ends with the prefix NF68-AR or BR, you can request a free RMA/swap for the new revised edition that ends in A1 or T1. If you signed up within 30 days of purchase of the original board, you can request an RMA, free of charge. The new revision fixes the Quad Core overclocking issue, fixes memory voltage and overclocking as well as fixes the PS2 keyboard/mouse interface that many users including myself were experiencing hyper sensitive mouse control (I switched to the USB plug afterwards). So far its running good, my wife is using the computer right now and I'm talking to her on MSN, its running well :-)Thats all folks, thanks for reading.Cheers,Jason

Good to see a satisfied simmer :)

Hey there Jayson!Good to hear things are going well.I have yet to purchase and build my system. I had a brief run in with the auditor who discovered my hidden bank account LOL. She went to Disney with the grand kids all expenses paid of course. Guess what I was not invited, go figure huh. Im still laughing at her pleasure with ripping my savings off and in fact she really deserved the trip none the less. Thank God she left me home. I enjoy the kids but watching them at a place like Disney is a real chore.I will be back in a few days to write a bigger response and ask a few questions of the whole group. I may be making some revisions to my original plans but as was it is all still in the works design wise.Cheers and happy flying!Monty (N9ZN Extra Class HAM in Tampa, Florida)
