Ultimate Dauphin sounds!

Featured Replies

WEll at least to me they are awesome. Great startup and shutdown. I found them in a Dauphin package at simviation. The sound set is by Manuel Gonzalez. Here is an excerpt from the sound readme: (all credit goes to Manuel Gonzalez, the sound system to the best of my knowledge is his copyright)STARTING- When starting the helicopter, the RPM must be 0 for starter to function.- To prepare for helicopter start-up

Crabster,Are you using these sounds with Antti Pankkonen's Dauphin? If so, would you mind posting your sound.cfg for those of us who might be interested in using these sounds? Thanks very much in advance.Edit: Crabster, I just downloaded the file you were referring to, and I understand now what you were talking about when you mentioned some tweaking being involved. I can figure out the steps involved by following the instructions (obviously :-hah ); however, I won't be able to get to it until tomorrow and I'm still wondering if you have these sounds successfully installed in Antti Pankkonen's Dauphin or not. Thanks again."Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! I downloaded that package with the intent of seeing what the sounds were like as I like everybody else wanted better sounds for Antti's Dauphin. I set it up in Manuels package first and really liked what I heard. This was last night right before I posted. Since it was so late my time, I didn't get a chance to put it into the AS365 which I will be working on as soon as I finish this post. :) I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I'll let you know how I make it if you do the same :)Andy

Thanks Andy. Yeah, I'll see what I can come up with. If it works I'll definitely post the results."Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! No joy here. All I did was dump the sound folder in and like you no joy. I had to go to work so couldn't tweak it, but I have an idea on why it didn't work. If my theory is right, it is really simple. Sheesh-doing two prjects at once, getting FlyII up to speed and this helo sound pack. not enough time in a day :)I'll let you know how I make out with it.

Sounds good. I look forward to hearing about your progress. As for me, I have absolutely no clue as to how to make it work, so I'll wait and see what you come up with. :-hahDon't work too hard!"Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! Ok, I got it figured out. Just need to do some fine tuning and testing, but it works. I'll post again when I'm finished. Just finished testing. Here's what I found out. I don't know why, (I'm not the smartest guy in the world) but it all has to do with the aircraft.cfg. So what I did was basically hack both .cfg's together (Anttis AS365 and Manuels HH65). For the most part everything is correct for Anttis helo (lights, weight and balance, electrical, fuel, etc...) there is a line in there somewhere that I guess "wakes up" the sound.cfg. Like I said, I'm not the smartest guy, but maybe one of the flightsim professors out there can explain what it is and why it does it. I sent an email off to Manuel but haven't got a response yet.I guess do to copyrights of both parties, I can't upload the "new" aircraft.cfg? Before I step on any toes, I'll wait to hear what the answer is on that one. But I am going to send it to Annti to see if he knows what and why.I will say this as I said it before, Manuel did a great job! That is an awesome soundpack and really compliments Anntis awesome AS365.

YES!! :-beerchug You, my friend, are the man!! Hopefully, everything will work out fine with getting permission from both Manuel and Antti. If/when it does, would you mind sending me your .cfg file to this address? -> [email protected], Crabster! :-hah"Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! Another update :)I haven't heard from Manuel yet, but I did hear from Antti (He is great with getting back to folks quickly!) He offered a suggestion which I tried, but it didn't work. However, I think I finally figured it out! If my theory is correct, it is super simple and shouldn't violate anybodys copyrights.Just gotta be a little patient as I gotta go take my son and run a few errands this morning. I'll post back later this evening with results :)

hmm

(I hate posts that go out of order)SUCCESS!!!!After much trial and error, I figured it out! It is very simple yet I still really don't understand why. All you need to do is take one section from Anttis aircraft.cfg and replace it with the one from Manuels. I'm not going to upload it since permissions are probably needed to do that. (I've yet to hear from Manuel Gonzalez) but I'm wondering if it is legal to explain what I did. I sure as heck don't what to slight, offend or otherwise make the authors mad. If anyone could find out from the moderators if it is ok otherwise I just emailed Antti to get his opinion. If he says it's good to go, I'll post back what ya gotta do. Sound fair?Anttis helo still flies like advertised. The sounds really compliment the a/c especially with 5.1 speakers!! Instructions should still be followed in Manuels readme. Bottomline for me is, even with the payware aircraft I've bought in the past, this package "is it" and I've decided to try and make a dauphin cockpit.Andy

"Bottomline for me is, even with the payware aircraft I've bought in the past, this package 'is it....'"I heard that!!Yeah, posting the instructions would definitely be alright with me, if you're able. Hey, you deserve a lot of credit for figuring this thing out! I feel bad that I wasn't able to make anything of it and that I gave up, but my hat is definitely off to you. I think you've brought a new dimension to an already excellent aircraft. Thanks, Crabster. (I hope others are following this thread so that they can benefit, as well. Perhaps, you can post what you've done in the General Forum, also. Just a suggestion.)"Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! Here is the reply from Antti: "I must say (again)that engine gauge, engine control and fuel system functionality is not guaranteed after this change. Feel free to post your results in the forums, but distributing any modified files is forbidden."So far the helo is performing as Antti intended it to but he cannot guarantee it will after the mod. I will respect his wishes and not distribute any files to anyone.
