Bell 412 Griffon of Virtual Canadian Air Force is a Sto

As Director of Operations for Cougar Mountain Helicopters, I feel that I should advise the simulator community that there is a Bell 412 Griffon helicopter marketed as being for the Virtual Canadian Air Force that has recently been released by Curtis 'Tim' Jones that is actually an aircraft that has been stolen from Cougar Mountain Helicopters. Curtis Jones is a currently member of the Virtual Canadian Air Force (and perhaps other VA's), and I certainly hope that they would not be very proud of his actions. The files contained in this aircraft (first marketed as one of Jordan Moore's aircraft on simviation.com, and presently marketed as a Dwight Blades aircraft on fsplanet.com) are copyrighted by Al Colson, CEO of Cougar Mountain Helicopters, and Dwight Blades.Curtis Jones seems to think he can fool the community into falling for this trick, but if one is to only run his cursor over the word document icons contained in the files, it becomes readily apparent that these files belong to Al Colson. Curtis Jones didn't even bother to develop his own 'copies' of these files, but merely inserted his name inside the files. That is certainly sloppy work Curtis. Al Colson did not give any permission for this aircraft to be modified, nor uploaded to any sites. This aircraft is the copyright of Al Colson and Dwight Blades. These actions are certainly not what we expect of our fellow flight simulation community members, and we at Cougar Mountain Helicopters are deeply saddened that they were performed by one of our former members.Curtis Jones was a member of Cougar Mountain Helicopters for a very short time, yet flew absolutely zero flight hours. When questioned about his lack of flying and if he needed any help, he claimed that some 'real world' things came up and he had to resign. We at Cougar Mountain Helicopters are glad that Curtis 'Tim' Jones is no longer affiliated with our organization, for we certainly hold our members to much higher standards.I hope that the Virtual Canadian Air Force is saddened by these events, and the actions of one of their members. The information about Curtis Jones activities with the Virtual Canadian Air Force can be found at: http://www.vcaf.8m.net/roster.htmHis roster listing is as follows:Curtis "Talon" Jones CH-149 Comorant / Mission PlannerOur CEO, Al Colson, will support the information in this email, and again, Al did not give Curtis Jones permission to modify or upload this "Bell 412 Griffon." Feel free to email any questions or comments to the email listed on our website at www.cgrmtnhelos.com Cougar Mountain Helicopters would like for Curtis 'Tim' Jones to step forward and explain how these events occurred. This aircraft is currently copyrighted by Al Colson and Dwight Blades. I hope that the simulation community will see Curtis Jones in the proper light following these events. And again, Cougar Mountain Helicopters is deeply saddened by this black eye to the simulation community.Respectfully submitted,Rex 'Rexbo' JesterCougar02Director of OperationsCougar Mountain HelicoptersKetchikan, Alaskawww.cgrmtnhelos.com

The theft of freeware seems to be happening all over. I've been reading more and more about it just on the Avsim forums alone. It's sad that some people have so little honor and integrity. :-( -Lindy :-wave

I have already alerted Ron Clark and Dwight Booth of this man's actions, via e-mail. This certainly is THEFT, and should be treated as such by all parties involved.Rex, you SHOULD note, however, that the man's name is Dwight BOOTH, not Dwight 'Blades,' which is his preferred nick. :-)

Just wondering where you got this aircraft. I don't see any downloads on the vCAF webpage anywhere...

Curtis had uploaded it to the major sites as a repaint and design by him (and Jordan Moore!??? He has nothing to do with it!), always looking for new designs I d/l it and low and behold, it looked very familiar. In another related incident, I recieved a private message from a guy at the Simviatiion forums about getting access to the CMH A109 that is in my signature, he said he had been to the CMH site and had the 412 and wanted to know how to get this one. I searched his profile and found he is a member of VCAF, along with Curtis Jones, guess theives tend to stick together.MichaelCOUGAR 04 http://www.geocities.com/res052cd/cmhbanner.gif

David: Thanks for the assist, and the name correction. I always call him 'Blades' but as you point out, Booth is his correct last name. I suppose I figure folks know him as 'Blades' as they do me as 'Rexbo'.Thanks,Rexbo

LOL... Some acqaintances know me only as 'Chappy,' a nick I've had since grade school, so I certainly understand the situation!Anyway, I've come to add to this thread that Mr. Curtis Jones has uploaded his rip-off to the AVSIM library...it's in the 'What's New' section, amidst the next wave of FFG Sabbs (:9 ). I haven't heard back from Ron Clark, and the file-in-question is still available at Simviation, so either Ron hasn't worked on the case ( I doubt it though...), Simviation hasn't repsonded, or the author is putting up a good fight...

Thanks for the assist 'Chappy'...I have seen some correspondence between Dwight 'Blades' Booth and our CEO, so they are aware of it. I also got a response from Simviation, and they say that they have removed it....so I'll have to go back and check again. I appreciate everyone's help...it is unfortunate that this occurred....Rexbo
