Simple improvements to the default B206

Featured Replies

I have long been annoyed at the lack of "feel" in the helis in FS owing to bad forward and forward/down visibility when landing; it's hard to judge your drift, is it not? I made these quick improvements tonight which may be old hat to many but, my golly, they improved my evening. If you want to try the following, back up your PANEL.CFG and insert the following under the WINDOW TITLES, overwriting the WINDOW00 configuration details:*************************************(VIEWS) ...................... this word in SQUARE bracketsVIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=0,GPS_PANELVIEW_FORWARD_UP_WINDOWS=37VIEW_FORWARD_UP_ZOOM=0.8VIEW_FORWARD_UP_DIR=25.0, 0.0, 0.0(Window00) ................... again, in square bracketsfile=Main_1024.bmp size_mm=469windowsize_ratio=0.532position=6visible=1ident=MAIN_PANEL***************************************The next line will be the first gauge in your main panel. What will this do for you? It will give you:1. a smaller control panel, more in keeping with the VC as you switch back and forth.2. a forward, downward view on your hat switch triggered by the UP (push hat forward) command. This will make gauging those approaches SO much easier, and who the heck uses that UP view, anyway?Yes, I know, such a view is available in VC, but I find panning around in VC to be distracting when trying to keep centered on an approach ... doing things this way, the VC appears as a 2D view, firmly and instantly.Try it and see. It made one heck of a difference for me. I also have the Collective visible at all times - my preference, and have added the switchable Heli HUD which I highly recommend.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitak.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/reds.htmlhttp://www.swiremariners.com/cxkaitakv3.jpg

That sounds cool. I'll have to check it out. I agree that the up view is not used and this sounds like a good substitute.Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums Moderator

http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/logo75t.gifBush Flying Unlimited"At home in the wild"Looking for adventure? I think I'm correct in saying that Tailboom is banned from Avsim forums, hence the response over at flightsim.com.
